Description
Job Opportunity: Senior Accountant
The City of Nacogdoches is seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Senior Accountant to join our Finance Department. In this role, you will perform advanced accounting operations, oversee financial reporting, monitor budgets and manage capital asset and project accounting to ensure exceptional stewardship of public funds.
Key Responsibilities:
Maintain general ledger accounts, perform reconciliations and review financial transactions.
Manage capital asset accounting, depreciation and Capital Improvement Projects (CIP) tracking.
Monitor budget activity, prepare variance reports and assist with annual ACFR preparation.
Coordinate audit activities and serve as a liaison with external auditors and regulatory agencies.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, Business or a related field.
- At least two (2) years of accounting experience (governmental and grant experience preferred).
- Knowledge of GAAP, GASB standards and public finance laws.
- Public Funds Investment Act Certification required within one (1) year of employment.
- Valid Texas driver's license.
