Shape the future of Respiratory & Immunology care across Czech Republic and Slovakia.
AstraZeneca is a global, science-led, patient-focused biopharmaceutical company that focuses on the discovery, development and commercialization of prescription medicines for some of the world’s most serious diseases. But we’re more than one of the world’s leading pharmaceutical companies.
It’s our patients that come first, every decision we make and action we take is centered around how we can better respond to their evolving needs, as well as those of healthcare professionals and partners. It’s why we are shaping patient care for the future, working along the whole experience to give hope to billions of lives across the world.
MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
We are looking for a Medical Manager Respiratory & Immunology to lead our R&I MSL team across Czech Republic and Slovakia and help shape the medical strategy for one of AstraZeneca’s key therapeutic areas.
This is a highly visible leadership role combining people leadership, scientific excellence and strategic medical ownership. You will translate emerging science and insights from clinical practice into a focused medical strategy, build trusted partnerships with leading external experts, and work across functions to create meaningful impact for patients and the healthcare system.
What you’ll do
As Medical Manager, you will play an important role in delivering the medical strategy and supporting high-quality scientific exchange.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Lead, coach and develop the R&I MSL team across Czech Republic and Slovakia, creating clear direction, strong accountability and an environment where scientific talent can grow and perform at its best.
- Build team capabilities, foster a culture of curiosity and continuous improvement, and empower MSLs to translate scientific insights into meaningful impact on clinical practice.
- Co-own the development and delivery of the R&I medical strategy across Czech Republic and Slovakia, translating strategic priorities into focused, measurable medical activities.
- Identify opportunities where Medical Affairs can help address unmet needs, remove barriers in patient pathways and support the evolution of clinical practice through evidence, education and scientific partnerships.
- Turn insights from clinical practice, external experts and the evolving evidence base into actions that strengthen medical strategy and improve patient care.
- Identify local evidence gaps and contribute to evidence-generation initiatives, including clinical research, real-world evidence, externally sponsored research and other scientifically relevant projects, where appropriate.
- Contribute to launch readiness and lifecycle strategy by anticipating future evidence needs, evolving standards of care and changes in the Respiratory treatment landscape.
- Act as a strategic Medical partner within cross-functional teams, bringing scientific leadership and external insights into key decisions while safeguarding the independence and non-promotional nature of Medical Affairs.
You will help us build:
- A high-performing, empowered MSL team with clear priorities and strong scientific credibility.
- A focused Respiratory & Immunology medical strategy grounded in external insights, evolving evidence and patient need.
- Trusted scientific partnerships that help advance clinical practice and patient care.
- Strong cross-functional execution while protecting scientific integrity and Medical independence.
- A future-ready R&I Medical organisation prepared for the next wave of scientific innovation.
What we’re looking for
You will bring strong scientific credibility combined with excellent communication, leadership experience, stakeholder-management and organisational skills.
Essential experience and skills
- Strong scientific background and ability to critically interpret clinical evidence.
- Demonstrated people-leadership capability, including coaching and developing others.
- Medical Affairs experience and understanding of the pharmaceutical and healthcare environment.
- Ability to translate scientific complexity and external insights into clear strategic direction.
- Strong stakeholder management and cross-functional leadership skills.
- Excellent scientific communication, presentation and facilitation skills.
- High level of written and spoken English.
- Ability to manage changing priorities and take ownership of deliverables.
- Ability to travel as required.
Desirable
- Advanced degree in Medicine, Pharmacy, Pharmacology or another relevant life-science discipline.
- Experience within Respiratory & Immunology or another specialty-care therapeutic area.
- Several years of experience in Medical Affairs.
- Experience in evidence generation, clinical research or RWE.
- Experience supporting launches or significant changes in clinical practice.
- Knowledge of the Czech and/or Slovak healthcare environment.
