Class 3 Operator Winter

Birch Mountain Enterprises is looking to hire experienced Class 3 Operators for winter work projects. Days and night shift.  Must be TDG knowledgeable, have ice road experience with a minimum of 3 years manual transmission experience, and previous fluid hauling experience, such as processed water, building ice roads.

 Job Summary: 

Operating from our Fort McKay location, this position involves the safe operation of Class 3 water trucks. Operators should be mechanically inclined and physically fit to work in all kinds of weather. Preference will be given to candidates who possess previous experience in the industrial sector. 

Duties and Responsibilities: 

• Operation of Water trucks in a safe and efficient manner. 
• ​​​​Must be physically able to perform tasks and work in all weather. 

• MUST be able to work in confined spaces. 

• Completion of daily documentation, including but not limited to daily logbooks, customer work orders, field-level risk assessment, and pre-/post trip inspections. 

• Follow instructions for tasks assigned by Dispatch or Supervisor. 

• Complete daily housekeeping of the assigned truck to ensure maintenance of the company image. 

• Attend daily toolbox and safety meetings as scheduled and adhere to corporate and site safety regulations and procedures. 

• Maintain and operate all BME tools and equipment to the required standards and procedures. 

• Ensure that all training is kept current. 

• Follow all TDG and WHMIS standards and regulations. 

• Seek out continuous improvement opportunities. 

• Provide customer-focused services in all activities. 

Qualifications: 

• Possess a minimum valid Class 3 driver’s license with a clean driver’s abstract.

• Minimum 3 years of experience, including up to 18 speed manual class 1 or 3 equipment.

• Previous or related experience operating Water, Vacuum, or Combo Vac units.

• Mine driving experience is an asset.

• Clear verbal and written communication skills. 

• OSSA (or BSO/CSO) and CSTS certification. 

• Certification in Transportation of Dangerous Goods, Daily Trip Inspections, Provincial Hours of Service for Alberta, Weights and Dimensions, Cargo Securement for flatbeds, WHMIS, and H2S Alive, First Aid. 

• Must successfully pass BME driver’s evaluation, Drug and Alcohol, and fit for duty pre-employment screening.
