Sr. Procurement Manager
Location: Lake Forest, IL
Join Abbott's Cardiometabolic and Informatics (CMI) business as a Sr. Procurement Manager, where you'll lead procurement strategy and supplier management across three manufacturing sites. In this high-impact role, you'll drive sourcing initiatives, optimize supplier performance, and ensure the reliable, cost-effective supply of materials, goods, and services that support manufacturing and business objectives.
As the primary procurement liaison between CMI and Abbott's Division and Corporate Strategic Procurement teams, you'll partner with cross-functional stakeholders to identify cost savings opportunities, mitigate supply risks, improve operational efficiency, and support business growth. You'll play a key role in shaping procurement strategy, strengthening supplier partnerships, and delivering value through innovation, quality, and continuous improvement.

What You’ll Work On
- Execute procurement and sourcing strategies aligned with enterprise and business unit objectives to ensure the reliable, compliant, and cost-effective supply of materials and services needed to support operational, manufacturing, and commercial requirements.
- Lead and develop a team of procurement professionals responsible for procurement operations, including supplier relationship management, purchase order management, supplier performance monitoring, issue resolution, and compliance with procurement policies, procedures, and purchasing controls.
- Identify, assess, and mitigate supplier, supply chain, and market risks to ensure continuity of supply, support inventory objectives, and achieve zero manufacturing disruptions.
- Drive financial performance through cost reduction initiatives, productivity improvements, inventory optimization, working capital management, and reduction of excess, obsolete, and distressed inventory while maintaining required service levels.
- Establish and maintain effective supplier relationships and performance management processes to improve quality, delivery, service, responsiveness, and overall supplier reliability.
- Partner with Operations, Planning, Quality, Engineering, Finance, and other cross-functional stakeholders to support business initiatives, product launches, process improvements, and continuous improvement activities.
- Manages performance of staff towards department and Company goals, including feedback on performance, appraisals, recommendations for merit increases or necessary disciplinary actions, communication to employees on performance, etc.
- Understands and is aware of the quality consequences which may occur from the improper performance of their specific job; has awareness of device defects that may occur in their area of responsibility, including product design, verification and validation, manufacturing and testing activities
- Responsible for exhibiting professional behavior with both internal/external business associates that reflects positively on the company and is consistent with the company’s policies and practices; build productive internal/external working relationships
- Carries out duties in compliance with established business policies
- Other duties as assigned, according to the changing needs of the business
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, Engineering, Finance, Operations Management, or related discipline.
- 7+ years of progressive experience in procurement, purchasing, sourcing, supplier management, or supply chain operations, including experience supporting manufacturing or operational environments.
- Demonstrated success managing supplier relationships, negotiating purchase agreements, ensuring continuity of supply, supporting inventory management objectives, and executing procurement processes that meet business, quality, delivery, and cost requirements.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Masters degree preferredExperience within a regulated industry such as medical devices, healthcare, life sciences, pharmaceutical, or other manufacturing industries is preferred.
- Strong knowledge of procurement and purchasing processes, supplier management, contract administration, and sourcing activities.
- Experience evaluating supplier performance and resolving supply, quality, and delivery issues.
- Demonstrated ability to identify and mitigate supply risks to support uninterrupted manufacturing operations.
- Knowledge of inventory management principles, demand planning interfaces, and working capital considerations.
- Experience implementing and maintaining compliant, standardized, efficient, and effective procurement practices.Strong analytical, problem-solving, negotiation, and organizational skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a matrixed environment and collaborate with Operations, Planning, Quality, Engineering, and Finance teams.
- Experience leading, coaching, and developing procurement professionals.Proficiency with ERP systems and procurement-related business tools.CPSM, CPM, CSCP, or similar supply chain certification preferred but not required.

$129,300.00 – $258,700.00In specific locations, the pay range may vary from the range posted.
