Description
Meet the Team
Splunk Enterprise Security is an 11-time Gartner Magic Quadrant Leader in SIEM, and it sits at the center of Cisco's security strategy. Our team is Cisco's core security product team, responsible for the Splunk Enterprise Security editions that SOCs rely on every day.
Our next chapter is changing what it costs to run a SIEM. We are integrating Splunk ES with Cisco Data Fabric to give customers distributed, federated data tiering. They can keep the data that matters hot and searchable, and manage everything else more economically, without leaving blind spots. We move fast, we value curiosity and resourcefulness, and every voice on the team counts.
Your Impact
You will be the product lead for the integration of Splunk Enterprise Security with Cisco Data Fabric. You will own the technical strategy and product outcomes for two goals:
1. Distributed, federated data tiering for SOC use cases: letting security teams detect, investigate, and respond across data wherever it lives, without centralizing and paying to ingest all of it.
2. Lower TCO through a better Day 1 experience: simplifying the data pipeline so customers get value from core security use cases faster and at lower cost.
What you will do:
- Set the strategy. Define and drive the product and technical vision for the ES and Cisco Data Fabric integration, tied to measurable outcomes such as lower ingest and storage cost, faster time to value, and sustained detection efficacy.
- Architect the integration. Design and deliver data flow, ingestion, and access patterns that support detection, investigation, threat hunting, and response across tiered and federated data.
- Build intelligent data management features. Develop capabilities to tier, route, filter, and reduce data based on security value, so customers cut costs without compromising efficacy.
- Simplify the data pipeline. Streamline onboarding, data source configuration, normalization, and routing for core security use cases, so customers see value on Day 1.
- Drive cross-functional execution. Lead joint roadmaps, technical design reviews, and sprint alignment across Splunk, Cisco Data Fabric, and partner engineering teams.
- Champion the SOC. Keep detection and response outcomes central to every decision, and translate complex customer and analyst requirements into clear, prioritized product capabilities.
- Be the technical voice. Represent the product to customers, field teams, partners, and senior leadership, and bring customer and market insight back into the roadmap.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree with 12+ years, Master's or PhD with 8+ years of related experience
- 4+ years of hands-on cybersecurity experience, including security operations
- Product management or business line ownership experience in enterprise software or security
- Experience designing and maintaining large-scale distributed data systems or SIEM architectures
- Some experience with Splunk Enterprise Security and security operations data lifecycles
Preferred Qualifications
- SOC domain depth: Strong grasp of core SOC workflows (triage, investigation, hunting, response) and SOC personas, from Tier 1 analysts and detection engineers to SOC managers and CISOs.
- Threat landscape awareness: Current knowledge of evolving attacker tradecraft, such as identity-based, cloud, and ransomware attacks, and how it shapes the data a SOC must retain and search.
- Detection engineering: Understanding how detections are built, tuned, and maintained, and how data filtering or tiering affects detection efficacy.
- Data pipeline management: Experience with security data pipelines (collection, normalization, routing, retention), cloud-native streaming such as Kafka and Kinesis, and data models such as CIM and OCSF.
- Data tiering and TCO: Understanding federated search and storage economics, with a track record of reducing customer cost or complexity on a data-intensive platform.
- Cisco ecosystem: Familiarity with Cisco networking and security data architectures, including Cisco Data Fabric.
- Customer obsession: Regular direct engagement with SOC practitioners and security leaders, with real empathy for the analyst's day.
- Communication and influence: Executive presence, the ability to lead across complex organizations and third-party partners, and skill at explaining technical and economic tradeoffs to both technical and non-technical audiences.
