The Role

Seaport Therapeutics is hiring an Associate Director, Program Management to lead integrated planning and execution for a clinical-stage program. Reporting to the Director of Program Management, this role partners with the Program Leader and the cross-functional program team — Clinical Development, Clinical Operations, Regulatory, Technical Operations (CMC), and Nonclinical Development — to deliver program milestones on time in a high-functioning program team environment.

In the near term, the role will focus on establishing integrated development plans, timelines, and risk management for the program and on running an effective program team operating rhythm. This role will also continue to build Seaport's program management capability, standardizing the tools, templates, and processes used across the portfolio and contributing to company-wide resource and investment planning.

The ideal candidate will embrace a collaborative, innovative culture that embodies our values of service to patients impacted by mental health conditions, with a "we own it" mentality, demonstrating entrepreneurial spirit and technical excellence while fostering teamwork and continuous improvement. This position is based in Boston's Seaport area, with a strong preference for being onsite 4 days per week.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain integrated development plans, timelines, milestones, risks, and scenarios in partnership with the Program Leader, functional leaders, and program team members across Clinical Development, Clinical Operations, Regulatory, Technical Operations (CMC), and Nonclinical Development.
  • Own the program’s core planning documents, including the integrated timeline, risk plan, dashboards, and status updates.
  • Serve as the central point of contact for the program team on issue identification, resolution, and escalation, and partner with the Program Leader to keep the team operating effectively.
  • Facilitate program team and subteam meetings, including agendas, prereads, minutes, and action item follow-through; stand up and manage ad hoc workstreams as needed.
  • Support the Program Leader in delivering clear, timely updates on program progress, risks, and decisions to the Executive Leadership Team.
  • Support cross-functional resource, budget, and capacity planning for assigned program(s), and contribute to annual budget and long-range planning.
  • Build and maintain the program’s document-sharing environment to support team communication and institutional knowledge capture.
  • Champion program management best practices, including contemporary templates, tools, and processes that improve efficiency, decision-making, and communication.

Qualifications

  • 8+ years of pharmaceutical or biotech industry experience, including 3+ years in program, portfolio, or alliance management.
  • BA/BS in a scientific, engineering, business, or related discipline; an advanced degree (PhD, MS, MBA) is preferred.
  • Direct experience working with Clinical Development, Clinical Operations, Regulatory, Technical Operations (CMC), and Nonclinical Development.
  • Working knowledge of the drug discovery, development, and commercialization process, with depth in mid- and late-stage clinical execution.
  • Track record of guiding cross-functional teams through complex scientific, regulatory, and development challenges, and of influencing without direct authority.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to hold both detail and strategic context.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication, including executive-level presentation and meeting facilitation skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities across programs and functions in a fast-paced, high-visibility environment.
  • Neuroscience or neuropsychiatric development experience is a plus; passion for Seaport’s patient-centric mission is essential.
  • Core Technical Competencies in project and portfolio management platforms; proficiency in Smartsheet is required; experience with enterprise PPM tools (e.g., Microsoft Project, Planisware, Planview), Microsoft Office suite, and AI LLM tools are preferred.

At Seaport, we believe transparency and fairness are key to building a culture of trust, respect, and collaboration. We care deeply about the happiness of our team and strive to ensure our total rewards (monetary and non-monetary) program reflects the value each person brings. The expected salary range for this role is $180,000–$205,000, with the final offer based on level, experience, market data, and internal equity. We encourage open conversations with our talent acquisition team about compensation early in the process to ensure alignment from the start.
