Location: Tampa, FL Metro Area (Hybrid Remote)
Compensation: $195,000 – $205,000 base salary + Strong 401(k) with match, potential

Role Overview
A premier, nationally recognized Architecture & Engineering firm is seeking a visionary
Director of Architecture to spearhead the delivery, operational strategy, and regional
expansion of its Education & Public Sector practice across the Greater Tampa region.
This key leadership role involves directly managing a high-performing team of 10
architectural professionals, driving business strategy, and ensuring design excellence
across K-12, Higher Education, and Independent School portfolios. The ideal candidate
will bring deep expertise in educational facility design, sharp commercial acumen, and
thorough working knowledge of Florida business code and public sector procurement.
Key Responsibilities
• Team Leadership: Direct, mentor, and manage a core team of 10 architects,
designers, and project managers, overseeing workforce planning, performance,
and professional development.
• Operational & Financial Direction: Manage key financial metrics—including
revenue forecasting, project profitability, billable utilization, and portfolio
backlog—using robust business acumen to maximize operational performance.
• Project Delivery & Compliance: Provide architectural oversight across all
phases of design and delivery, ensuring full compliance with Florida business
codes, agency standards, and municipal guidelines.
• Client & Market Engagement: Serve as a primary strategic partner for school
boards, higher education leadership, and independent institutions across Florida
to secure repeat business and drive organic growth.
• Strategic Growth: Partner with executive leadership on annual budgeting,
proposal preparation, pursuit strategies, and strategic expansion across the
regional educational sector.
Required Qualifications
• Education & Credentials: Bachelor of Architecture from an accredited
institution; active Registered Architect (RA) license required.
• Experience: Minimum 15 years of progressive architectural experience, with
direct leadership in team management, market strategy, and project portfolio
execution.
• Domain Expertise: Proven track record delivering complex K-12, Higher
Education, or Independent School projects within the Florida market.
• Code & Regulatory Knowledge: Deep knowledge of Florida business code,
building codes, and public procurement protocols.
• Business Acumen: Demonstrated commercial oversight, including profit-andloss management, financial forecasting, and strategic account growth.
Preferred Qualifications
• Master’s degree in Architecture, Business, or Operations Management.
• Multi-disciplinary team leadership experience in a hybrid or distributed
environment.
• Additional exposure to broader public-sector sectors (civic, municipal, or
institutional).
