Location: Newport Beach, CA 92660
Work Model: Hybrid (Minimum 3 days/week in-office or at client sites)
Compensation: USD $138,000 – $172,500 / year (Base Salary) + Annual Performance Bonus

About the Role
As a Corporate Tax Manager, you will be a key member of our Corporate Tax Practice, driving business income tax planning, corporate compliance, and ASC 740 income tax accounting (provision preparation and audit support).
In this role, you will maintain primary tax relationships with clients and manage engagements end-to-end. You will collaborate closely with cross-functional team members and deep-domain specialists—including dedicated National Tax Office resources—to support all aspects of our clients' tax functions. Key Responsibilities
- Engagement & Project Management: Run client engagements from start to finish, including planning, executing, directing, completing tax projects, and managing engagement budgets.
- ASC 740 Leadership: Conduct primary reviews of ASC 740 income tax provision engagements (preparation, review, and audit support).
- Tax Compliance & Review: Review complex corporate tax returns prepared by staff; provide actionable recommendations for return accuracy and tax-saving opportunities.
- Team Leadership & Development: Supervise, train, and mentor senior associates, associates, and interns. Conduct performance reviews and serve as engagement lead.
- Client Relationship & Business Development: Maintain strong working relationships with client management, gain deep insights into client operations, and identify opportunities to deliver additional services to existing and prospective clients.
- Technical Research & Audit Support: Research complex tax matters, utilize modern tax software, and respond to inquiries from the IRS, state, and local tax authorities.
- Professional Standards: Maintain strict confidentiality and adhere to the highest degree of professional ethics and compliance.
Must-Have Qualifications
- Licensure: Active CPA license (State of California preferred) OR active Law License (JD).
- Core Technical Expertise: Direct hands-on experience in Corporate Compliance and ASC 740 Income Tax Provisions (including preparation, review, and audit support).
- Public Accounting Background: Recent experience in public accounting with a Top 15 accounting firm or a large regional firm supporting large, multi-state, national, or global corporate clients.
- Education & Experience: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting with 4 to 7+ years of progressive tax compliance and/or tax consulting experience.
- On-Site Availability: Ability and willingness to work on-site at the Newport Beach office or client locations at least 3 days per week, with occasional additional travel as needed.
Preferred Skills & Attributes
- Software Expertise: Proficiency with OneSource Tax Provision (OTP) and other modern tax-related software applications.
- Regulatory Knowledge: Strong working knowledge of state and local income taxes (SALT), taxation of international activities, and transfer pricing.
- Communication & Collaboration: Exceptional presentation, interpersonal, and client service skills with a strong teamwork orientation.
Compensation & Benefits
- Base Salary Range: $138,000 – $172,500 / year (Placement within range depends on experience, specialized skills, business needs, and internal equity).
- Variable Compensation: Annual performance-based bonus eligibility.
