Description
As a trusted leader, you will build strong relationships with internal stakeholders, suppliers and logistics partners, while developing high-performing teams and embedding a culture of safety, continuous improvement and accountability. Your expertise will ensure our warehouse and logistics operations continue to reflect the world-class standards expected at Gordon Murray Automotive.
The Role
This is your chance to:
- Lead warehouse and logistics operations across multiple sites, ensuring the safe, efficient and timely movement of materials throughout the business.
- Oversee the receipt, storage and distribution of materials, maintaining accuracy and supporting uninterrupted manufacturing operations.
- Manage inventory levels and warehouse processes, ensuring stock accuracy and effective inventory control through ERP and inventory management systems.
- Plan and coordinate the transportation of materials and finished goods between company sites, suppliers and customers.
- Build strong working relationships with suppliers, logistics partners and internal departments to optimise supply chain performance.
- Ensure compliance with all transportation, import/export and regulatory requirements while maintaining company standards and procedures.
- Monitor warehouse and logistics performance through KPIs and operational data, identifying trends and implementing improvements that enhance efficiency and reduce costs.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives across warehouse and logistics operations, challenging existing processes and identifying opportunities to improve performance.
- Ensure all warehouse activities comply with health and safety legislation, company policies and industry best practice.
- Conduct regular audits, inspections and risk assessments to maintain safe, compliant and efficient working environments.
- Maintain accurate warehouse documentation, operational records and compliance reporting to support business and audit requirements.
- Lead, coach and develop warehouse and logistics teams across multiple locations, creating a positive, engaged and high-performing culture.
- Conduct regular team meetings, one-to-one reviews and performance development discussions, supporting individual growth and capability.
- Manage departmental resources, workloads and priorities to ensure operational demands are consistently achieved.
- Support recruitment activities when required, working with the People Team to attract and retain exceptional talent.
- Resolve operational issues, manage conflict effectively and provide leadership during changing business priorities.
- Communicate business objectives clearly, ensuring information is shared effectively and teams remain aligned with company goals.
About You
- Proven experience in warehouse, logistics or supply chain management, ideally within an automotive or manufacturing environment.
- Demonstrable experience leading and developing multi-site operational teams.
- Strong understanding of warehouse operations, inventory management and supply chain best practices.
- Experience using ERP systems and inventory management software to support operational planning and reporting.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to use data and KPIs to drive performance improvements.
- Strong organisational and time management skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Knowledge of transportation legislation, warehouse compliance and health and safety requirements.
- Confident building relationships with suppliers, logistics providers and internal stakeholders to deliver operational excellence.
- Excellent communication and leadership skills, with the ability to motivate, coach and develop high-performing teams.
- Proactive, resourceful and adaptable, with a continuous improvement mindset and the confidence to challenge existing processes.
- Full UK driving licence with the flexibility to travel regularly between company sites.
- A collaborative team player who leads by example and is passionate about delivering operational excellence.
- Experience within the automotive industry or a high-performance manufacturing environment.
- Knowledge of Just-in-Time (JIT) manufacturing principles and lean logistics practices.
- Experience delivering warehouse transformation or continuous improvement projects.
