About this role:
The Finance and Costing IT specialist is a strategic member of the ERP Centre of Excellence. This individual manages and supports SAP Finance and Controlling (FI/CO) systems, ensuring alignment with business goals and operational efficiency. The role holder will provide strong knowledge in this discipline to advance the company capabilities and deliver high-impact solutions. This role brings specialist knowledge to the complex challenges and guides individuals and teams on best practices and innovations. This role requires a complex thinker, capable of managing technology projects from conception to delivery, working cross-functionally with internal stakeholders, and maintaining the integrity of ERP best practices.
Accountabilities:
- Lead or participate in project planning, management, and delivery for Finance and Costing IT initiatives.
- Act as a strategic partner to the business by aligning SAP and related systems with evolving financial and operational goals.
- Define, prioritize, and manage product features and requirements to ensure successful and timely implementation.
- Architect, configure, and support SAP ECC 6 (with S/4HANA exposure as a plus) systems, particularly in the Finance (FI) and Controlling (CO) modules.
- Configure and implement SAP FICOPS modules including (New) General Ledger, Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, Banks, Asset Accounting, Cost Centre accounting, Product Cost Controlling, Profit Centre Accounting, Profitability Analysis, and Project system.
- Identify and drive opportunities for process improvement and automation within finance operations.
- Provide expert-level support (Level 3 and 4) for escalated issues, ensuring resolution of complex technical and functional problems.
- Collaborate effectively with IT peers and cross-functional business stakeholders, guiding technical decisions and ensuring alignment with company objectives, functional priorities and best practises.
- Serve as a custodian of ERP best practices in finance, ensuring consistent and compliant system use.
- Build and support Capital Expenditure Requests (CAPEX), ensuring financial governance is followed.
- Support vendor invoice processes with tools such as OpenText Vendor Invoice Management (VIM).
- Support Vertex and other tax software which is integrated with SAP.
- Support BPC as the business planning and consolidation system.
- Support banking interfaces.
- Deliver effective presentations and training to business users and IT teams.
- Document and maintain comprehensive records of IT projects, solutions and best practices within the discipline for future reference and team training.
- Act as a mentor for junior team members, fostering knowledge sharing and technical development within the team to promote technical excellence and innovation.
Skills and Experience (Manager):
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Management Information Systems, or equivalent work experience.
- Technical IT knowledge of SAP ECC 6, experience with S/4HANA is a strong advantage.
- 8+ years of SAP FICOPS functional configuration hands-on experience with multiple full-lifecycle implementations.
- 8+ years of SAP configuration, testing, and implementation experience.
- 5 to 10+ years of SAP hands-on experience in FICOPS modules including New General Ledger, material ledger, and parallel valuation.
- Experience configuring Data mapping to support banking interfaces along with a good understanding of middleware utilization.
- Familiarity with SAP OpenText Vendor Invoice Management.
- Experience with financial consolidation platforms such as BPC and Hyperion.
- Strong understanding of core accounting principles and financial processes, deep understanding of international tax frameworks (e.g., US GAAP, IFRS, European local statutory requirements).
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with a strategic mindset.
- Demonstrated project management and delivery experience, including budget mindfulness.
- Effective communication and presentation skills.
- Strong collaboration and stakeholder management capabilities with ability to influence stakeholders. The role needs to adapt to styles, interpret and explain information to different audiences inside and outside the organisation who may/may not be familiar with the subject matter.
- Ability to lead or mentor small teams and influence cross-functional efforts.
