Overview
A nationally recognized building-systems engineering consultancy is seeking a Senior Plumbing Design Engineer (MEP) to lead plumbing design and consulting efforts for complex, high-performance building projects. The organization delivers integrated MEP solutions across healthcare, education, commercial, hospitality, transportation, civic, and other technically demanding markets.
This is an opportunity for an experienced plumbing design professional to take ownership of projects, guide design staff, collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, and provide exceptional service from early planning through construction.
Position Description
The Senior Plumbing Design Engineer will serve as a discipline leader across multiple projects. This person will combine advanced plumbing-system design expertise with team leadership, project management support, construction administration, and responsive client service.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead plumbing system selection, engineering, design, and interdisciplinary coordination.
- Prepare and oversee plumbing drawings, sketches, analyses, specifications, calculations, and other technical deliverables.
- Manage and mentor plumbing design support staff while maintaining high standards for quality and accountability.
- Support overall project management and delivery in coordination with MEP team leaders.
- Provide construction administration and conduct site observations for assigned projects.
- Communicate clearly with clients, architects, contractors, and internal project teams.
- Deliver responsive, exemplary service and support to team members and clients.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree or relevant professional experience equivalent to a degree.
- At least 10 years of experience in MEP plumbing design and consulting.
- Demonstrated team-leadership and staff-management experience.
- Project management experience within the MEP industry.
- Working knowledge of IPC, UPC, and IBC standards.
- Comprehensive understanding of applicable building codes and plumbing design systems.
- Excellent verbal and written communication, organization, and problem-solving skills.
Desired Experience & Skills:
- Professional Engineer license or Certified in Plumbing Design credential.
- LEED accreditation.
- Working knowledge of Autodesk Revit.
- A collaborative leadership style and the ability to support both technical delivery and team development.

Salary Range: $112,000–$139,000 annually, plus eligibility for a conditional bonus.
