Description

This is where your work makes a difference.

At Baxter, we believe every person—regardless of who they are or where they are from—deserves a chance to live a healthy life. It was our founding belief in 1931 and continues to be our guiding principle. We are redefining healthcare delivery to make a greater impact today, tomorrow, and beyond.

Our Baxter colleagues are united by our Mission to Save and Sustain Lives. Together, our community is driven by a culture of courage, trust, and collaboration. Every individual is empowered to take ownership and make a meaningful impact. We strive for efficient and effective operations, and we hold each other accountable for delivering exceptional results.

Here, you will find more than just a job—you will find purpose and pride.

At Baxter, we are deeply connected by our mission to Save and Sustain Lives.

Every day, our products and therapies help improve outcomes for millions of patients around the world. Behind every product is a team of passionate scientists working to ensure safety, quality, and performance for patients who depend on our therapies.

We are currently looking for a Research & Development Associate Scientist II to join our Nutrition Compatibility Team in Braine-l'Alleud.

This role offers a unique opportunity to combine scientific expertise, project coordination, and cross-functional collaboration while contributing directly to the development and compatibility assessment of Parenteral Nutrition products used worldwide.

You'll work in a collaborative and highly international environment, interacting with colleagues across R&D, Medical Affairs, Marketing, Logistics, external contract laboratories, and global Baxter sites.

In this role, you will

  • Design and coordinate compatibility studies supporting Baxter's Parenteral Nutrition portfolio.
  • Drive study execution with both internal laboratories and external contract research organizations (CROs).
  • Collaborate with international stakeholders to ensure studies are delivered on time and according to scientific and regulatory requirements.
  • Manage study-related activities including product sourcing, logistics coordination, import documentation, and shipment preparation.
  • Analyze scientific data, interpret results, and translate findings into clear recommendations.
  • Prepare and present protocols, reports, and technical summaries in English.
  • Review scientific work performed by colleagues and contribute to maintaining high-quality scientific standards.
  • Participate in the evaluation and continuous improvement of analytical methods used for compatibility studies.
  • Support multiple projects simultaneously while balancing timelines, priorities, and stakeholder expectations.
  • Ensure compliance with GMP, GDP, quality, and EHS requirements.

We are looking for people who have

  • A Master's degree in Chemistry, Biochemistry, Pharmaceutical Sciences, or another relevant scientific discipline with 3 to 5 years of experience, or a PhD with up to 3 years of experience.
  • Experience designing, coordinating, or managing scientific studies.
  • Strong analytical thinking and the ability to interpret complex scientific data.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
  • A collaborative mindset and the ability to work effectively with international and virtual teams.
  • Strong organizational and project coordination skills.
  • A proactive approach, scientific curiosity, and willingness to take ownership.

Nice to have

  • Experience working with CROs or external testing laboratories.
  • Knowledge of emulsions, stability studies, pharmaceutical formulations, or Parenteral Nutrition products.
  • Exposure to regulated environments such as GMP or GDP.
  • Interest in digital tools, automation, data science, or AI-driven scientific approaches.

Why join this team?

More than a laboratory role, this is an opportunity to combine science, innovation and global collaboration while making a meaningful impact on patient care. You’ll work at the final stage of product development, where scientific decisions directly influence product quality, patient safety and business success. Along the way, you’ll collaborate with experts across multiple disciplines and countries, gain end-to-end visibility of the product lifecycle, and join a supportive, people-focused team that values curiosity, learning and collaboration.
