Job Summary:

The Project Manager is responsible for planning, coordinating, and executing projects for the Grand Canyon Railway & Hotel, the Grand Canyon Railway, the Tusayan Trading Post, The Grand Hotel, and the Grand Canyon Hotel & suites. The position is accountable for advancing assigned projects with urgency, removing obstacles, and achieving timely completion within approved scope, budget, quality, and compliance requirements. Success in this position is measured by the timely, safe, and cost-effective completion of assigned projects with minimal operational disruption.

Responsibilities

• Fully understand and support Xanterra’s Mission Statement, Cultural Pillars, Community Commitment and Core Values.
• Execute projects at the Grand Canyon Railway & Hotel, The Grand Canyon Railway, the Tusayan Trading Post, The Grand Hotel, and the Grand Canyon Hotel & Suites from conception through completion, including punch-list completion, invoicing, budget reconciliation, warranty, closeout documentation, and turnover to operations.
• Develop and actively manage project schedules, milestones, and near-term priorities; identify delays and take timely action to maintain progress and keep stakeholders appropriately informed.
• Proactively identify and resolve project obstacles, escalating decisions or issues promptly when they cannot be resolved within the position’s authority.
• Coordinate and hold contractors accountable for mobilization, schedule, quality, site requirements, correction of deficiencies, and timely completion.
• Plan and bid for new construction, remodels, and equipment installation using contractors or internal resources.
• Operates an assigned company vehicle to travel to and from project sites during scheduled work hours.
• Assist in compiling data for Xanterra’s annual Capital Expense Account (CEA) project list.
• Provide feedback to leadership on opportunities to improve the project execution process in the spirit of continuous improvement.
• Maintain accurate project schedules, budget forecasts, status reports, risk items, commitments, and completion projections for all assigned projects.
• Ensure that departmental and contracted projects are complying with all Xanterra, NPS, and Federal laws and regulations regarding HAZMAT, HAZCOM, risk management, confined space, lockout-tagout, ergonomics, ADA access, and vehicle use.
• Work closely with National Park Service Project Managers on engineering projects, abatements, and compliance issues within National Park Service jurisdiction.
• Assist in the planning and evaluation of proposed capital improvements.
• Comply and commit to all Xanterra and NPS (as required) environmental policies and procedures.
• Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

• Minimum of three years of experience in facility management, construction management, or project management within a multi-unit operation.
• Ability to read blueprints and understand CAD drawings.
• Knowledge of construction, mechanical systems, and specialized trade skills.
• Experience working in project management including cost estimating, bid notices, and contract negotiations.
• Experience using project management, maintenance management, or capital planning software to track schedules, budgets, and project documentation.
• Demonstrated advanced proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite applications.
• Possess or obtain a valid Arizona Driver’s License within 90 days of start date and comply with Xanterra GCR Vehicle Policy.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Previous experience as a Facility or Project Manager in a multi-unit hotel/resort operation.
• Experience coordinating contractors, consultants, architects, engineers, and regulatory agencies throughout the project lifecycle.
• Familiarity with hospitality operations and the unique challenges of executing projects within occupied guest-facing facilities.
• Experience with project budgeting, procurement, contract administration, and change order management.
• Experience managing renovation, infrastructure, utility, or capital improvement projects exceeding $100,000 in value.
• Knowledge of building systems, life safety systems, ADA requirements, environmental compliance, and construction-related codes and regulations.
