Lead Automation Engineer

Position Objective (Briefly state what the main purpose of what this position is responsible for).

• Technical engineering support for Custom Engineering system automation and electrical concept.
• Provision of systems engineering competence within the automation & electrical aspect.
• Advise customers on automation potential in manufacturing and assembly systems.
• Safeguarding and continuous improvement of the automation know-how.
• Support engineering team during Pre-FAT, FAT and SAT for instrumentation, electrical & automation related activities including documentation.

In self-sufficient way of working which includes, but not limited to

• Join the project bidding as Automation lead, including URS responds and automation & electronical proposal, cost analysis and demo show when required. (10%)
• Actively execute automation control system design, design review, test and start-up to meet the requirement of quality, safety, regulations complied and high-efficiency running. (35%)
• Manage the external partners on electrical design, including schematic drawing design, components selection, Technical inspect and approval the electrical construction, including wiring, installation of cable ducts, ensure the design & construction quality and timeline. (10%)
• Write, review automation and electrical related documents such as electrical schematic, HDS, SDS etc. to ensure compliance with URS and applicable regulations. (10%)
• Support during PreFAT, FAT and SAT activities in related but not limit to automation control, software, electrical aspects. (10%)
• Execute standardization of automation control software, electrical design and continuous improvement of software, electrical design and design standards. (10%)
• Technical support of different engineering disciplines throughout project duration and have right competence in external vendors, minor projects management and validation process. (10%)
• Support service activities, provide automation/electrical technical proposal and site execution including troubleshooting, retrofit, software upgrade etc. Share typical troubleshooting cases with service team. (5%)

Knowledge & Key Skills:

• Skilled in Design, configure and commissioning DeltaV DCS systems (Control Modules, Equipment Modules, Batch); Develop control logic; Build HMI/graphics and alarm systems.
• Skilled in PLC&SCADA design, such as Siemens TIA portal & Simatic Wincc.
• Design experience on VFD and servo controller.
• Familiar with industrial process instruments and field buses.
• Skilled of electrical components selection and electrical drawing design by AutoCAD or EPLAN.
• Cost estimation of automation and electrical concept, cost evaluation based on the concept designed.
• Troubleshooting automation & electrical problems.
• Coordinate with PM/PE, engineering support team & sub-suppliers/partners to implement lean production.
• Coordination of systems partners for the realization of automation systems and support for the global Custom Engineering strategy.
• Commitment to work together with engineering support team and willingness to work with an interdisciplinary team including sub-suppliers/partners, customers’ representatives and international colleagues to meet customers’ expectations.
• Ability to communicate effectively into team, identifying duties and responsibilities and proposing best suitable solutions.
• Open minded and flexible in looking for new technologies and continuous improvement.

Essential Qualifications & Education:

• Bachelor’s degree or above in automation or electrical engineering

Essential Experience:

• Expert in Emerson DeltaV software/hardware configuration, programming, and commissioning.
• Experience with mainstream PLC and SCADA systems, such as Siemens PLC and Simatic Wincc.
• Knowledge about GAMP 5, ISA88, 21CFR PART11 and GMP.
• Experience in preferably pharma/biotech industry or alternatively in the food/beverage/cosmetics industry.
• With strong team work consciousness and good cooperation, open mind and strong implementation.
• Good communication and coordination skills.
• Able to work with dynamic changes and pressure.
• Good English speaking, reading and writing skills.

Position Competencies (include behavioral characteristics and leadership capabilities)

• Detailed knowledge and understanding of design criteria for automation & electrical in biopharmaceutical systems.
• Support teamwork within the interdisciplinary group and in relation to project managers and process/project engineers.
• Travelling to customer & supplier sites is needed.
