Overview
The Manager, Procurement Content Strategy & Digital Experience provides strategic leadership for Procurement’s content strategy and digital experience capability, with an immediate mandate to strengthen the user experience, access to Procurement content, and adoption of major Procurement transformations already underway.
The position serves as a key functional partner in the “YaleBuys” implementation, helping shape user interfaces, content, digital guidance, self-service resources, AI-enabled support capabilities, stakeholder access to information, and adoption strategies. The Manager ensures the new platform and related Procurement changes to content are introduced in a coordinated way that simplifies work for users and creates greater consistency across Procurement services, systems, and processes.
The role establishes governance and standards for how Procurement content is created, maintained, organized, governed, and delivered across the University’s digital ecosystem. Procurement information is managed as a strategic institutional asset through standards for information architecture, taxonomy, accessibility, lifecycle management, search optimization, and content consistency. The Manager oversees content including policies, procedures, supplier resources, buying guides, templates, operational documentation, communications, training resources, and Procurement knowledge repositories.
The Manager also develops strategies that improve awareness, adoption, and effective utilization of Procurement services, contracts, systems, and digital resources. Through user research, analytics, search behavior, stakeholder feedback, and platform performance data, the role continuously improves the Procurement experience and identifies opportunities to reduce friction and increase self-service. Over time, as the “YaleBuys” content, platform, and adoption foundation matures, the role will expand Procurement’s use of artificial intelligence, intelligent automation, conversational experiences, and emerging digital capabilities in a sequenced, governed manner aligned with demonstrated user needs and organizational readiness.
Required Skills and Abilities
1.Working knowledge of artificial intelligence, conversational AI, intelligent automation, and emerging digital technologies, with the ability to apply them pragmatically to defined business and user needs.
2.Exceptional written, verbal, and visual communication skills with the ability to simplify complex operational concepts for diverse audiences.
3.Demonstrated ability to design user-centered digital experiences that improve stakeholder engagement and self-service. Demonstrated curiosity, innovation, adaptability, and commitment to continuous learning.
4.Strong analytical, organizational, facilitation, project management, and continuous improvement skills. Experience using analytics, user research, search behavior, and performance metrics to drive business decisions.
5.Ability to lead cross-functional initiatives and influence stakeholders without direct authority. Ability to manage multiple strategic priorities within a dynamic organizational environment.
Preferred Education and Experience
Experience supporting Procurement, Finance, Shared Services, or Higher Education. Experience with content governance, digital experience, procurement-platform implementation, change management, digital adoption, user experience, or AI-enabled solutions. Familiarity with JAGGAER, Workday, SharePoint, ServiceNow, Microsoft 365, contract lifecycle systems, and enterprise AI platforms preferred.
Principal Responsibilities
1. Serve as a key functional partner in the “YaleBuys” implementation, shaping user-facing content, digital guidance, self-service resources, AI-enabled support, and the overall Procurement user experience.
2. Help translate major Procurement changes into intuitive, coordinated information and experiences that make work easier for faculty, staff, researchers, suppliers, and Procurement professionals.
3. Develop adoption, readiness, release timelines, and stakeholder engagement approaches that support “YaleBuys” and other transformations without creating unnecessary change burden.
4. Partner across Procurement and end-user groups to identify user friction, simplify processes, and improve consistency across platforms, services, and channels.
5. Own Procurement content governance, ensuring information remains accurate, current, accessible, compliant, searchable, and aligned across digital platforms.
6. Establish standards for management and updates to information architecture, taxonomy, metadata, accessibility, content lifecycle management, version control, and search optimization.
7. Govern updates to Procurement content including policies, procedures, buying guides, supplier resources, templates, FAQs, training, communications, operational documentation, and knowledge repositories.
8. Maintain content consistency across “YaleBuys”, Supplier Gateway, JAGGAER, Workday, SharePoint, ServiceNow, contract lifecycle systems, and other Procurement environments.
9. Maximize AI-enabled support capabilities available within “YaleBuys” and other established platforms, grounding them in trusted Procurement knowledge bases and clear user needs.
10. Establish governance and evaluation practices that keep AI-enabled solutions accurate, trusted, secure, useful, and aligned with institutional standards.
11. As maturity develops, identify and pilot opportunities for conversational AI within “YaleBuys”, intelligent automation, workflow support, and other emerging digital capabilities across Procurement.
12. Sequence advanced capabilities thoughtfully, using testing, analytics, stakeholder feedback, and organizational readiness to guide when and how they are introduced.
13. Lead initiatives that simplify complex Procurement processes into intuitive, user-centered digital experiences and increase effective self-service.
14. Create and maintain digital instruction guidance, knowledge articles, buying resources, communications, and other user-facing content that improves experience and reduces avoidable support needs.
15. Develop adoption strategies that increase awareness and effective utilization of Procurement services, contracts, technologies, and resources.
16. Use user research and stakeholder feedback to continuously improve navigation, content, support experiences, and the consistency of Procurement interactions.
17. Establish and monitor indicators for content utilization, search effectiveness, self-service, stakeholder engagement, digital adoption, AI-enabled support, and operational effectiveness.
18. Analyze user behavior, search trends, content performance, support interactions, platform data, and feedback to identify continuous-improvement opportunities.
19. Evaluate the Procurement digital ecosystem to ensure content and experiences remain relevant, accessible, measurable, and aligned with transformation priorities.
20. Develop the long-term roadmap for Procurement content strategy and digital experience, sequencing capabilities with Procurement priorities, platform maturity, user needs, and organizational readiness.
21. Collaborate across Procurement, IT, Finance, Legal, Research Administration, Communications, suppliers, and University stakeholders to support transformation.
22. Build the foundation for Procurement’s longer-term digital strategy through disciplined governance, innovation, collaboration, learning, and responsible adoption of emerging capabilities.
Required Education and Experience
Bachelor's degree in a relevant discipline or equivalent combination of education and experience. Six years of progressively responsible experience in content strategy, digital experience, content governance, user experience, organizational change, procurement operations, or related disciplines.
