Blacksmith started by making CI workloads run much faster: its first product runs GitHub Actions substantially faster and cheaper on its own global fleet of bare-metal machines instead of rented cloud VMs. It now orchestrates tens of millions of Firecracker VMs a month for 3,000+ companies, schedules 100k+ vCPUs concurrently, and runs a petabyte-scale Ceph cluster it manages itself.

Blacksmith reached about $10M ARR in under two years, has grown revenue more than 5x since the start of 2026, and has raised $58.5M through its Series B.

The Role

Blacksmith is hiring a Staff Product Engineer to set the technical direction for new products: AI-native developer tooling that does not yet exist anywhere in the industry. The role operates at the organization level, owning architecture, solving complex product problems and driving 0-to-1 initiatives. You will be a key technical authority and force multiplier: raising engineering standards, mentoring senior engineers and owning production outcomes as a hands-on technical leader.

What You Will Do

• Own and drive the architecture of new products, designing and building the next generation of AI-native developer tooling.
• Translate business and product strategy into long-term technical roadmaps and execution plans.
• Drive new products from 0 to 1.
• Own production outcomes, including reliability, performance and operational excellence.
• Mentor senior engineers and act as a force multiplier.
• Operate in ambiguous spaces where both the problem and the solution need defining.

What You Bring

• 7+ years as a full-stack engineer owning 0-to-1 product builds end to end
• Designed, built and shipped exceptional products in high-growth environments with recognized engineering teams
• Strong technical fundamentals across the stack, particularly TypeScript and React
• Set and led the technical direction of a product from an early stage to one known for exceptional customer experience
• Power user of coding agents and agentic tooling, with compelling examples
• Track record of leading through influence as an individual contributor
• Clear thinking and communication across engineers, leadership and non-technical stakeholders
• Ability to work in person in New York 5 days a week

Nice to Have

• Experience at a developer tools or infrastructure startup building for engineers

Interview Process

Initial screen (30 min), technical interview I (45-60 min), technical interview II (2 hours), final onsite (30-45 min).
