Department Overview
The Client Product Management Group within the Business Support Development Department, Commerce & Marketing Company, serves as the product owner for select features of RMS (an ASP service provided to merchants on Rakuten Ichiba). The group is responsible for product strategy, requirements definition, and development.
Our group develops and operates two key merchant-facing features for Rakuten Ichiba: a chat function enabling communication between merchants and Rakuten as well as between merchants and shoppers, and a data analytics feature that visualizes store operations data.
R-Karte is a data analytics feature that enables Rakuten Ichiba merchants to monitor KPIs such as sales, access, and CVR at both the store and product page level. In addition to visualization through charts, tables, and graphs, it enables detailed analysis by customer attributes such as visitors, buyers, and favoriting users, as well as by traffic source.
In this role, you will join us as the Product Manager for "R-Karte", leading the data analytics feature from strategy through execution.

Position Details
As the Product Manager for R-Karte, you will be responsible for the following:
・Define the mid-to-long-term vision and roadmap for R-Karte
・Plan and propose new features based on data analytics needs
・Develop differentiation strategies based on competitive analysis and market research
・Understand merchant needs and define requirements
・Provide regular progress updates and explain business impact to senior leadership
・Strengthen collaboration with Sales and Customer Support teams
・Identify issues, conduct data analysis, set KPIs, and define requirements
・Prioritize feature development and plan releases based on strategy
・Drive product improvement based on understanding and leveraging data infrastructure
・Develop and execute page consolidation and retirement plans
・Work closely with lead engineers and the development team (remote environment)
・Manage project scope, budget, and timelines
・Promote and improve agile development processes
・Analyze usage data and extract insights
・Plan, execute, and evaluate A/B tests
・Continuously improve the product based on customer feedback
・Plan and conduct UAT (User Acceptance Testing)
・Monitor post-release performance and address issues

Work Environment
The Client Product Management Group is a PM-only organization consisting of PMs across multiple products. Even though each PM owns a different product, we foster an open environment where we learn from each other and share ideas freely.
For this position, the engineering team is based in Osaka while the PDM role is based in Tokyo, so you will primarily work in a remote-first hybrid environment.
Mandatory Qualifications:
・Over 5 years of experience as a Product Manager or in a similar role
・Ability to analyze business requirements and translate them into system definitions and requirements specifications
・Ability to identify issues within your product and propose solutions
・Excellent communication skills (business-level Japanese required)
・Experience making data-driven decisions
・Foundational knowledge of data infrastructure (DWH, ETL, data pipelines, etc.)
Desired Qualifications:
・Data analysis experience using BI tools (Tableau, Looker, etc.)
・Data extraction and analysis skills using SQL
・Product management experience with AI-powered systems
・Product management experience with features centered on generative AI or conversational AI
・Experience designing quality evaluation criteria for AI outputs, and driving post-release validation and improvement cycles
・Experience designing mitigation strategies for LLM hallucination and misoutput risks
・Experience with B2B SaaS products
・Experience working on an e-commerce platform or marketplace
・Background in system or product development
・Experience owning and driving initiatives tied to budgets or KPIs
・Experience improving internal operations
