Description
The City of Roanoke is seeking an Accreditation Manager to facilitate the implementation of new and revised standards by assessing the impact of changes on current policies and the need for the creation of new policies to ensure compliance with the Virginia Professional Law Enforcement Standards Commission (VLEPSC) and does related work as required.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Identifies trends in Virginia Law Enforcement Professional Standards Commission (VLEPSC) standard development and alerts management to anticipated changes
Reviews department policies and procedures for compliance with accreditation standards
Updates accreditation plan as necessary
Assists in writing directives to assure accreditation requirements
Prepares reports on existing department operations, methods and procedures relating to accreditation standards
Develops and maintains department manuals as necessary
Collects the appropriate reports and proof to satisfy accreditation standards
Plans preliminary and on-site assessments; gives tours to assessors
Conducts policy research and surveys of other jurisdictions relating to accreditation
Maintains all records associated with accreditation
Trains department personnel on accreditation process
Participates in special projects

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
Bachelor’s degree from four-year college or university; three to five years experience in accreditation management and/or training; or equivalent of education and experience.
LANGUAGE SKILLS
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret journals, reports, and legal documents. Ability to respond to inquiries or complaints from citizens, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community orally and in writing. Ability to effectively present information to management, public groups, and/or boards of directors. Ability to resolve conflicts.
REASONING ABILITY
Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions and deal with several abstract and concrete variables when working collaboratively toward a common issue or resolution.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS
Possession of a valid appropriate driver's permit issued by the Commonwealth of Virginia. Holds current Department of Criminal Justice Services (DCJS) Law Enforcement certification.
