Schedule: Wednesday to Sunday | 11:00 PM - 7:00 AM
Role Overview
Citadel Security USA is hiring an Overnight Security Shift Supervisor to provide leadership and operational oversight during late-night and early-morning hours. The supervisor is responsible for keeping assigned positions continuously covered, supporting officers in the field, coordinating staffing changes, and ensuring shift activities remain aligned with established requirements.
This is a hands-on supervisory role. The selected candidate must be prepared to assist directly with security duties when staffing shortages occur while also maintaining accurate records, communicating with management, and addressing issues as they arise.
Primary Duties
- Take ownership of shift readiness before officers begin their assignments.
- Confirm that scheduled personnel arrive on time and are qualified for their assigned posts.
- Conduct a shift briefing covering relevant instructions, staffing matters, safety concerns, and operational updates.
- Complete a thorough handoff at the conclusion of the shift.
- Track attendance and immediately communicate missed shifts, late arrivals, or early departures to the Contract Manager.
- Arrange replacement coverage when an officer calls off or leaves unexpectedly.
- Fill an open post personally when necessary to maintain required security coverage.
- Monitor staffing throughout the night and identify potential gaps before they become service issues.
- Maintain communication with officers and management throughout the shift.
Workforce Administration
- Verify employee time entries in TrackTik.
- Review clock-in and clock-out activity for accuracy.
- Document timekeeping exceptions and forward them for appropriate approval.
- Monitor accumulated hours and alert the Contract Manager when overtime appears likely.
- Do not authorize avoidable overtime without appropriate management approval.
- Maintain organized records related to staffing, attendance, and shift activity.
Supervision & Officer Development
- Provide direct guidance to assigned security personnel.
- Reinforce expectations for professionalism, appearance, conduct, and post performance.
- Coach officers on proper procedures when deficiencies are identified.
- Assist with training, orientation, and familiarization with assignment requirements.
- Confirm officers understand current post orders and operational instructions.
- Verify required credentials and qualifications as applicable.
- Escalate serious or recurring performance issues through the appropriate management channels.
Incident Management & Reporting
- Respond to incidents and operational concerns occurring during the assigned shift.
- Ensure required notifications are made promptly.
- Review officer reports for clarity, accuracy, and completeness.
- Document staffing issues, incidents, unusual occurrences, and other important shift information.
- Maintain confidentiality when handling sensitive information.
- Ensure required documentation is completed before shift turnover.
Standards, Procedures & Client Relations
- Enforce applicable company policies and assignment-specific post orders.
- Monitor compliance with contractual service requirements.
- Maintain professional relationships with authorized client representatives.
- Communicate service concerns and operational developments to management.
- Assist with inspections, quality reviews, and corrective actions.
- Promote consistent service delivery across all assigned posts.
Equipment & Resources
- Monitor issued uniforms, equipment, keys, credentials, and other company property.
- Report damaged, missing, or defective equipment.
- Reinforce proper care and use of company resources.
- Coordinate equipment concerns with management when replacement or repair is needed.
Qualifications
Required:
- High school diploma or GED.
- Valid Driver’s License
- 1-3 years of experience in private security, military, law enforcement, or a comparable field.
- Ability to maintain required state or local security licensing or guard credentials.
- Credible professional references.
- Required I-9 employment eligibility documentation.
- Successful completion of required background screening.
- Ability to pass client-required screening, including drug testing when applicable.
- Strong leadership, communication, and decision-making skills.
- Ability to work independently during overnight hours.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities without losing attention to detail.
Preferred:
- Previous security lead or supervisory experience.
- Education or coursework in Criminal Justice, Management, Business Administration, or a related discipline.
- Valid driver's license and driving record meeting company and insurance requirements.
- CPR and First Aid certification.
- Experience with employee scheduling, workforce systems, or timekeeping platforms.
- Familiarity with TrackTik.
- Experience handling staffing shortages, call-offs, and emergency coverage.
