Description
The Director must possess extensive subject-matter expertise and a strong knowledge of best practices related to the management, modernization, improvement, maintenance, and upkeep of County facilities. The Director is also responsible for instructing, mentoring, and training team members to support consistent, safe, and high-quality service delivery. The position oversees the Facilities budget, including allocating financial resources, materials, contractors, equipment, and staff in the most efficient and effective mannerEssential Job Functions
The Facilities Director will play a critical role in the facilitation, planning, and management of the County’s workspace needs assessments; developing strategies for the efficient, timely, and cost-effective rollout of office space plans. This includes evaluating space utilization, supporting functional office layouts, coordinating moves and reconfigurations, and promoting the effective use of available County workspaces.
The Director is responsible for ensuring the maintenance, safety, and effective performance of County-owned buildings to maximize their longevity, operational efficiency, and suitability for County operations. Responsibilities include overseeing building safety practices; conducting or coordinating facility safety inspections; identifying and addressing safety hazards; supporting compliance with applicable building, fire, life-safety, and workplace safety requirements; and coordinating corrective actions, repairs, and improvements as needed. The Director will promote safe, accessible, efficient, and well-maintained County facilities that support employees, departments, and the public.
Employee Management Responsibility
This position has management and development responsibilities over 5+ employees, including succession planning and performance reviews.
- Bachelors in a business-related field + a minimum of 7 years relative maintenance/construction experience and 3 years management experience
- 10 years relative maintenance/construction experience and 3 years management experience
- Able to complete/pass a thorough employment and/or criminal history check.
- Technical Capacity: Extensive knowledge of building and equipment repair; including, but not limited to electrical, plumbing, and HVAC systems, and the reading of blueprints and technical diagrams.
