Manager, Materials Management

 

The Role

ElevateBio is seeking a Manager, Materials Management to lead and oversee end-to-end materials operations at our manufacturing facility. This highly visible and strategic role is accountable for ensuring compliant, timely, and efficient handling of raw materials, patient-derived materials, manufacturing intermediates, drug substance, and drug product.

The Manager will own and direct material receipts, storage, issuance, and final pack-out while also overseeing inventory control, warehouse systems, and third-party logistics. This leader will collaborate cross-functionally with Manufacturing, Quality, Validation, and Facilities, serving as a key interface for operational excellence, compliance, and continuous improvement in support of ElevateBio’s manufacturing network. 

Here’s What You’ll Do

• Lead daily operations for materials handling including receiving, inventory control, kitting, and material issuance to manufacturing
• Oversee GMP pack-out and shipping of drug substance and drug product, ensuring chain of custody and documentation compliance
• Manage the cycle count program and drive inventory accuracy for both inventoried and non-inventoried materials
• Develop and maintain user requirements and business cases for warehouse equipment, infrastructure, and systems
• Serve as a people leader, coaching and developing a team of materials specialists and leads, ensuring flexibility, performance, and GMP compliance
• Act as the key contact for third-party logistics (3PL) providers, managing service levels, documentation, scheduling, and cost control
• Support budgeting for materials operations and approve invoices related to shipping, compressed gases, 3PL services, etc.
• Lead or contribute to cross-functional projects that improve inventory control, reduce waste, or optimize operational workflows
• Execute, manage, and approve quality records in Veeva for SOP creation/revisions, deviations, CAPAs, and change controls
• Own materials management validation activities within Kneat, including protocol execution and approval of validation documentation
• Champion best practices for controlled material flow, gowning materials, and operational support inventory across cleanroom areas
• Lead cross-functional investigations and improvements related to material movement, storage conditions, and supply support for clinical manufacturing

 

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree and at least 6 years of related experience, OR Master’s degree with at least 4 years of related experience, OR PhD with at least 2 years of experience.
• People management or leadership experience
• Expertise in SAP or similar ERP inventory systems
• Proficiency in quality and validation systems such as Veeva, Kneat, and BM-RAM
• Strong understanding of GMP regulations, chain of custody principles, and materials flow in clinical and commercial manufacturing environments
• Experience working with 3PL providers and managing shipping/receiving of high-value materials
• Excellent communication, organizational, and analytical skills
• Demonstrated ability to lead cross-functional initiatives and continuous improvement projects

Physical and Environment Requirements:

• Ability to stand, walk, bend and stretch for extended period of time
• Ability to lift 15-20 lbs
• Ability to push, pull, bend, kneel, twist and climb step ladders while wearing PPE.
• Ability to perform routine repetitive motions with use of arms, wrists and hands

The budgeted range for this position is $125,000 - $165,000. This range is a good faith estimate of the expected salary range for this position, based on a wide range of factors including qualifications, experience and training, operational and business needs and other considerations permitted by law.
