Description
Insight HRM is seeking applicants for a Launderer position with a private family based in their home in West Bloomfield, MI. This is a highly physical position which requires long hours standing, lifting, squatting, and stretching, working in a home environment with exposure to noise, fumes, dust, etc. The ideal candidate will be a dependable team player, committed to arriving to work each day on time and ready to contribute their talents to the family with previous experience in housekeeping and/or laundry services working in a private family home environment. Professional references required.
Schedule: 40 hour work week, Monday through Friday 7:30 am – 4:00 pm (30 min unpaid lunch break)
Job Summary:
The Launderer supports Carvey Company, LLC with laundry and linen services. The Launderer must possess a positive attitude, be a team player, and work in a high paced private-family home environment. Additionally, efficiency and quality must be a focus for all work that is performed. The Launderer supports daily laundry operations by sorting, washing, drying, ironing, folding, returning laundered garments and linens to designated management-approved storage locations, and organizing linens and clothing to ensure the family members have the supplies they need. The Launderer will operate laundry equipment safely, follow proper cleaning and infection control procedures and inspect items for quality to ensure they are clean, fresh, wrinkle-free and ready for use.
Responsibilities:
- Make all of the beds in the family home daily.
- Launders towels and clothing daily. Inspect clothing and linens for stains, damage or quality concerns before and after washing, taking proactive measures to treat and remove stains.
- Manages specialized household laundry products, ensuring adherence to family preferences regarding hypoallergenic or eco-friendly detergents and softeners.
- Reads and follows manufacturer care labels (e.g., dry-clean-only, silk, wool, cashmere, leather care, etc.).
- Launders bedding weekly.
- Folds or hangs laundry and returns laundry to respective storage areas (i.e. dressers, closets, etc.) daily.
- Irons, sorts and organizes laundry.
- Tracks clothing sizes and organizes accordingly.
- Tracks seasonal items and rotates stored clothing accordingly.
- Transport drycleaning for drop off/pick up as needed; and transport donations to charitable organizations such as Salvation Army/Goodwill as needed. Utilizes own vehicle to transport items and run other errands as assigned.
- Operates equipment safely including but not limited to washers, dryers, steamers, irons and other laundry equipment according to safe operating procedures.
- Properly handles soiled or contaminated laundry in accordance with safety and sanitation guidelines.
- Maintains an adequate supply of laundry-related supplies.
- Keeps the laundry area and equipment clean, including cleaning filters and vents on the machines as needed.
- Adheres to safety protocols and follows policies and procedures.
- Regular and predictable attendance in the family home as assigned.
- Works harmoniously and collaboratively with coworkers, supervisors, family members and third parties.
- Maintains absolute confidentiality and discretion regarding the family's personal lives, home security, and household affairs.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications/Education/Licensing/Experience:
- Authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship.
- Previous work experience in housekeeping/laundry and previous private-family work experience is preferred.
- Valid driver's license and reliable transportation.

Physical Demands and Work Environment:
- Involves working in a private family home environment occasionally exposed to extreme temperatures, noise, fumes, dust, etc.
- Primarily standing during shift.
- Must be able to lift up to 35 pounds at a time.
- Must be able to squat, lift, stretch, crouch, and bend in order to reach all areas of the home and laundry storage areas.
- Ability to operate standard laundry equipment.
- Ability to speak English, hear, and see.
- Ability to transport items with personal vehicle.
