Job Description:
Microchip is looking for a Senior Technical Writer, who can develop and maintain high-quality technical documentation for Microchip Technology’s Wireless Products Business Unit. The role involves working closely with engineering and cross-functional teams to translate complex wireless and embedded technologies into clear, accurate, and customer-focused documentation.
Key Skills
- Strong technical writing, editing, and information-development skills.
- Good understanding of wireless technologies, embedded systems, semiconductor products, and software/firmware.
- Ability to understand and document hardware features, register maps, APIs, commands, configuration parameters, and application workflows.
- Experience with technical documentation such as datasheets, user guides, application notes, developer guides, reference manuals, programming specifications, product briefs, and online documentation.
- Experience with XML/DITA, structured authoring, content reuse, and single-sourcing is preferred.
- Familiarity with tools such as Oxygen XML Editor, Tridion Docs, FrameMaker, Inkscape, Jira, and Confluence is an advantage.
- Strong collaboration, analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple deliverables and meet product release schedules.
Job Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain technical documentation for wireless SoCs, modules, development boards, and associated software/tools.
- Work with hardware, firmware, applications, validation, product management, and marketing teams to gather and validate technical information.
- Independently own documentation deliverables from planning and content development through review and release.
- Review engineering specifications, register maps, and other technical inputs for accuracy, completeness, consistency, and usability.
- Develop technical diagrams, tables, workflows, and other visual content as required.
- Ensure documentation follows Microchip documentation standards, templates, terminology, and editorial guidelines.
- Drive content reuse, structured authoring, and documentation process improvements across the wireless product portfolio.
- Coordinate technical reviews, resolve feedback, and ensure timely completion of documentation deliverables.
- Leverage AI and automation where appropriate to improve documentation development, review, and publishing efficiency.
Requirements/Qualifications:
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Engineering with 5-8 years of experience in technical writing or technical documentation.
