Our client is recognized as the leader in their industry and with an enviable record of success, they are now further expanding their data team and looking for a Head of Strategy, Data and AI Governance
About the Role
Reporting to the department head, you will lead enterprise‑wide data and AI initiatives that enhance data governance and convert analytics into measurable business outcomes. You will operate at the crossroads of business, data and technology, partnering with senior stakeholders to shape data strategy, oversee governance practices and drive high‑value data and AI use cases across multiple business units. Acting as a strategic sparring partner to use‑case owners, you will support them through design, delivery, go‑live and adoption, while providing commercial input that shapes the data science roadmap, experimentation design and model performance tracking. You will head the development of advanced analytics and machine learning solutions that underpin customer, product, risk and operational strategies, ensuring these solutions are engineered into scalable, robust data products. In close collaboration with data engineering and IT teams, you will direct the design and deployment of resilient data pipelines and feature stores, champion big data initiatives that enable near real‑time decision‑making and accelerate the industrialization of reporting and insights via automation, dashboards and self‑service analytics. A core accountability of the role is to own and continuously refine the organization’s data governance framework, spanning policies, standards and operating models to ensure data is used in a trusted, compliant and well‑controlled manner. This includes defining and implementing data protection and privacy controls, embedding data quality practices for profiling, cleansing, monitoring and enrichment, and elevating metadata, data dictionary and lineage standards.
The Successful Candidate
- A bachelor’s degree in Data Science, Computer Science, Statistics, Engineering,
- Business or a related discipline, with a master’s degree considered an added advantage.
- Candidates are expected to bring typically at least 10+ years of experience in data analytics, data governance, data platforms or applied AI/ML, including a proven history of leading projects or teams and delivering complex data or AI initiatives end‑to‑end in large‑scale or multi‑business environments
- Strong grounding in data management and governance practices, covering areas such as data cataloguing, metadata management, data quality and data lineage, and be experienced in designing or operating data governance frameworks and stewardship models
- Familiar with data privacy, data protection and access control concepts, with knowledge of regional privacy regulations viewed favorably, and ideally bring exposure to AI governance topics including model transparency, fairness and risk management.
- Success in this position requires strong stakeholder management capabilities, with the ability to work effectively with senior business leaders, IT and analytics teams, as well as excellent communication skills to distil complex data and AI topics into clear, actionable business narratives
