Position Summary
Chartis Federal is seeking a hands-on Land Mobile Radio Technician to support testing, programming, maintenance, troubleshooting, and sustainment of communications equipment supporting our customer.
This role supports portable, mobile, fixed, and infrastructure radio systems critical to mission-essential tactical communications operations and requires strong technical troubleshooting capability in a secure, mission-critical environment.
This position is contingent upon award.
Responsibilities
- Test, inspect, troubleshoot, maintain, and repair Land Mobile Radio (LMR) communications equipment
- Program and tune portable, mobile, consolette, and fixed network radio equipment for operational deployment
- Configure communications equipment in accordance with technical standards and operational requirements
- Support maintenance, troubleshooting, and sustainment of repeaters, base stations, duplexers, combiners, receive multicouplers, and related communications infrastructure
- Diagnose radio equipment failures, technical performance issues, and operational faults
- Support cabling, alignment, testing, and sustainment of communications infrastructure equipment
- Utilize radio programming tools, diagnostic equipment, and technical software to support maintenance and operational readiness
- Operate and maintain key loading equipment supporting secure communications environments as required
- Support radio repair triage, escalation, and issue resolution activities
- Complete work orders, maintenance records, service documentation, and operational tracking requirements
- Assist with equipment staging, deployment preparation, and mission support activities
- Support ad hoc technical, logistics, and warehouse support activities as required
- Maintain compliance with technical procedures, federal security requirements, and operational standards
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent; technical training strongly preferred
- 3+ years of hands-on LMR technical support, radio maintenance, tactical communications, or related communications systems experience
- Hands-on experience with Motorola LMR platforms (APX, XTS, XTL, Quantar, GTR, or comparable systems)
- Familiarity with P25 communications systems
- Experience using radio programming tools, diagnostic equipment, and maintenance software
- Strong troubleshooting, fault isolation, and technical problem-solving skills
- Ability to interpret technical documentation, maintenance procedures, and operational work instructions
- Ability to work effectively in a mission-critical operational environment
Preferred Qualifications
- Motorola OEM training or certification
- Harris radio experience
- Experience with Key Variable Loaders (KVL) or secure communications support
- Public safety, DHS, CBP, DoD, military communications, or federal tactical communications experience
- Existing DHS suitability, Public Trust, Secret clearance, or similar federal security credential
Work Environment / Physical Requirements
- Full-time onsite position in Orlando, FL
- Hands-on technical equipment and operational support environment
- Must be able to lift, move, and install communications equipment up to 50 pounds
- Occasional after-hours support may be required based on operational needs
- Must successfully complete a CBP Background Investigation
- Must comply with all federal security, facility access, and operational requirements
