The Opportunity
The Health Economics & Reimbursement (HE&R) Analyst is a member of the ANZ Health Economics & Reimbursement team, reporting to the HE&R Country Lead, ANZ. The role supports reimbursement and market access activities across Abbott Medical Australia's portfolio, with a focus on reimbursement submissions, evidence requirements, policy monitoring, stakeholder engagement, and project execution.
Working closely with commercial, regulatory, clinical, medical, government affairs, and HE&R colleagues, the HE&R Analyst supports the development and execution of reimbursement strategies and funding submissions, including Medical Services Advisory Committee (MSAC) and Prescribed List (PL) applications. The role also collaborates with the APAC HE&R Centre of Excellence (COE) to leverage shared evidence generation, dossier development, and analytical capabilities while ensuring alignment with Australian market requirements and reimbursement objectives.
Responsibilities:
Support the development and execution of reimbursement strategies and market access plans for new and existing products across Abbott's medical device portfolio.
Execute reimbursement activities and key submission milestones, including MSAC, Prescribed List, and other relevant funding applications.
Gather, analyze, and prepare local data, evidence, application forms, references, and supporting documentation required for reimbursement submissions.
Conduct local HTA, reimbursement, budget impact, and cost analyses to support market access decision-making and funding applications.
Collaborate with the APAC HE&R Centre of Excellence (COE) on dossier development, evidence generation, economic analyses, Early Value Assessments (EVA), and reimbursement submissions.
Provide local market insights, reimbursement requirements, policy updates, clinical practice information, and country-specific inputs, and review materials to ensure alignment with Australian requirements.
Support engagement with reimbursement authorities, payers, healthcare professionals, clinical experts, and other stakeholders to communicate the value of Abbott technologies and advance access objectives.
Monitor healthcare policy, reimbursement, and market developments, providing insights and recommendations on potential implications and opportunities for Abbott's portfolio.
Work closely with commercial, regulatory, clinical, medical, government affairs, and regional/global HE&R teams to support reimbursement strategies, business priorities, and cross-functional initiatives.
Maintain reimbursement trackers, reporting, and project documentation, while identifying opportunities to improve processes, efficiency, and collaboration across teams.
Qualifications and experience
Bachelor's degree in Health Economics, Public Health, Pharmacy, Life Sciences, Business, Economics, or a related discipline, with a minimum of 5 years’ relevant experience in health economics, reimbursement, market access, healthcare consulting, regulatory affairs, medical affairs, or other healthcare-related fields.
Experience supporting reimbursement submissions, funding applications, or market access initiatives within the Australian healthcare system, with a strong understanding of MSAC, Prescribed List, HTA processes, reimbursement pathways, and evidence requirements.
Ability to interpret and apply clinical, economic, and health outcomes evidence to support reimbursement strategies, funding decisions, and market access objectives.
Demonstrated ability to work effectively across cross-functional teams and multiple stakeholders, including commercial, clinical, regulatory, medical, government affairs, and regional/global colleagues.
Experience engaging with healthcare authorities, clinical experts, government agencies, professional societies, and other external stakeholders is preferred.
Strong written, verbal, and presentation skills, with the ability to communicate complex concepts clearly and effectively to both technical and non-technical audiences.
Key competencies
