Description
- Establish strong, aligned People leadership in India that is fully integrated with the global People strategy.
- Provide hands-on oversight of People operations, compliance and employee relations.
- Build credibility locally while reinforcing clear reporting lines and governance within a matrix structure.
- Strengthen performance culture, accountability and leadership capability.
Key Responsibilities
- Act as the senior People Partner to the India site leader and leadership team.
- Build trusted relationships with business heads, coaching and challenging when required, to drive performance while maintaining clear alignment and accountability to the global People function
- Drive alignment between local business needs and global HR standards and processes
- Provide balanced counsel, knowing when to support, when to challenge and when to escalate appropriately.
- Confidently navigate a matrix structure, managing competing priorities and stakeholder expectations.
- Take full ownership of end-to-end People operations in India, including contracts, onboarding, performance management, offboarding, and workforce changes.
- Strengthen governance, reporting lines and process adherence when required.
- Collaborate cross functionally to ensure operational excellence.
- Lead and manage employee relations matters including grievances, disciplinary cases, performance concerns and investigations.
- Coach managers on performance management, feedback conversations and difficult people decisions.
- Reinforce a culture of accountability, transparency and inclusion.
- Service as the subject matter expert on Indian labour laws and employment regulations.
- Ensure full compliance with statutory requirements across contracts, benefits, terminations, disciplinary actions and workplace practices.
- Monitor legislative changes and proactively assess the business impact.
- Mitigate risks through sound documentation, governance, and process controls.
Skills, Knowledge and Expertise
- Minimum 12+ years of progressive People experience, including People Business Partnering and People operations, preferably in a fast-paced, global or tech-enabled environment.
- Strong knowledge of Indian labour laws, employment regulations, and HR compliance requirements.
- Proven experience in People processes including performance management, employee relations, manager coaching and employee wellbeing.
- Ability to balance strategic thinking with operational execution.
- Excellent interpersonal, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
- Bachelor’s degree in human resources, Business Administration, or a related field (Master’s preferred).
- Strong communication skills to build relationships with leaders and stakeholders to drive organizational change.
- Strong collaboration skills and ability to influence multiple stakeholders in a matrix environment.
- Strong organizational, analytical, data-driven decision-making and problem-solving capabilities.
