Wilhelmsen Ship Management Chennai is looking for a Technical Support Engineer (PMS) to join the Global PMS Support Team. This role combines Planned Maintenance System (PMS) technical support and PMS database project activities, requiring close interaction with vessel personnel, Technical Managers, Fleet Managers, and other stakeholders.

The successful candidate will be responsible for providing PMS support to vessels, maintaining PMS technical data, supporting database improvement initiatives, and ensuring accuracy and quality of PMS spare parts data. The role requires excellent communication skills, strong customer service orientation, and the ability to work effectively with both vessel and shore-based stakeholders.

Main Responsibilities

• Provide first-line technical support for the Planned Maintenance System (PMS), responding to vessel and stakeholder queries in a timely and professional manner.
• Liaise with vessel crews, Technical Managers, Fleet Managers, and other stakeholders to investigate, troubleshoot, and resolve PMS-related issues.
• Maintain and update PMS databases, including equipment hierarchies, maintenance tasks, spare parts records, and technical documentation in accordance with company standards.
• Review maker's manuals, drawings, and technical documents to extract, validate, and standardize spare parts, component, and maintenance information.
• Perform quality assurance and data validation activities to ensure accuracy, completeness, and consistency of PMS data.
• Support PMS database Projects, migration, standardization, and continuous improvement across the fleet.
• Execute bulk data updates, cleaning, and verification activities to maintain high data quality standards.
• Prepare reports, analyze PMS data, and provide insights using Microsoft Excel and other reporting tools.
• Contribute to process improvement initiatives and special PMS-related projects.
• Deliver a high level of customer service while supporting vessels and internal stakeholders.
• Support team objectives and undertake additional responsibilities assigned by the Team Lead.
  

Qualifications & Experience

• Diploma or bachelor’s degree in marine engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related technical discipline.
• Minimum 1 year of experience in PMS support, maintenance planning, PMS database building, or related technical functions.
• Experience in PMS data management and technical support for vessels or maritime operations is preferred.
• Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including formulas, lookups, filtering, data analysis, and reporting.
• Basic knowledge of SQL is desirable.
• Good understanding of vessel equipment, maintenance practices, and technical documentation.
• Experience in spare parts extraction, data standardization, and quality assurance activities.
• Knowledge of PMS component structure and maintenance job extraction from maker's manuals is an advantage.
• Previous onboard sailing experience will be considered an added benefit.
