Overview

BW Gold is a wholly owned subsidiary of Artemis Gold Inc (“Artemis”). Artemis is listed on the TSX Venture exchange, and is a well-financed, growth-oriented gold development company with strong financials aimed at creating shareholder value through the identification, acquisition, and development of gold properties in mining friendly jurisdictions. Our current focus is construction of the Blackwater Mine in central British Columbia approximately 160km southwest of Prince George and 450km northeast of Vancouver.

Artemis Gold received its BC Mines Act permit for Blackwater Mine in March 2023 enabling the project to move into major works construction. 

 

Location: Blackwater Mine site - located 160 km southwest of Prince George, BC.

Schedule: Two (2) Weeks On – Two (2) Weeks Off Rotation

Responsibilities

The Supervisor - Asset Protection is responsible for supporting the implementation and maintenance of security measures and protocols across our mining operations. This role will involve collaborating with internal stakeholders and external partners to ensure the effective protection of personnel, property, and information. 

• Demonstrate effective safety leadership by addressing and enforcing BW Golds safety standards, procedures, and safety systems.
• Collecting, collating, and analyzing available information to identify trends, anomalies, suspicious activities, and possible vulnerabilities. 
• Compiling threat, vulnerability and risk models associated with the operation. 
• Identifying and coordinating the deployment of intelligence systems to minimize risks, evaluate the effectiveness and efficiencies to ensure optimal utilization in accordance with approved protocols. 
• Driving effective relationships with key stakeholders to internalize a security culture and awareness. 
• Assist in the development, implementation, and the enforcements of security policies, procedures, and protocols to safeguard company assets and mitigate risks. 
• Monitor and analyze security threats, vulnerabilities and incidents, and provide timely reporting and recommendations for corrective actions. 
• Ensure, monitor, and manage risk and safety during events. Manage risk control by analyzing information, developing indicators, produce reports and advice management accordingly. 
• Conduct regular security assessments and audits to identify areas for improvement and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and industry standards. 
• Investigate security incidents, breaches, and violations, and coordinate appropriate follow-up actions, including documentation, reporting, and resolution. 
• Lead the team of security professionals. 
• May be required to maintain a clean-shaven appearance (i.e. no facial hair) to ensure the safeand effective use of required personal protective equipment (PPE) associated with assigned duties.

 

Qualifications

• Degree or college diploma in criminal justice, security management, or related field preferred.
• Valid security certification or licensure (CPP, PSP, CISSP) is required.
• 5 + years of experience in security operations, preferably in a mining or industrial environment.
• Police or Military background an asset.
• Experience in the security discipline with focus on process and protection at exposure.
• Ability to work at a remote location camp on a 2 weeks on/2 weeks off rotation.
• Comfortable working and living in close quarters with the team.
• Ability to maintain high levels of performance over 12-hour shift.
• Ability to work in extreme weather conditions.
• Experience providing work direction, leading, coaching and/or training staff.
• Strong understanding of regulatory requirements, industry standards, and best practices related to security, safety, and risk management.
• Proven knowledge of security principles, practices, and technologies, including access control systems, surveillance cameras, and alarm systems.
• Excellent communication skills, with the ability to interact effectively with internal and external stakeholders at all levels.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office suites and security management software.
