As Senior Tax Manager - North America, you'll serve as the primary tax leader for the United States and Canada, partnering with senior stakeholders across Finance, Legal, Commercial, and Operations. You'll influence major initiatives including ERP transformation, legal entity rationalization, and the adoption of tax technology and AI, while receiving direct mentorship from ERM's Global Head of Tax.

What Your Impact Is:
In this role, you will:
Lead North America corporate tax compliance, tax accounting, indirect taxes, and tax governance activities.
Serve as the primary tax advisor for U.S. and Canadian operations.
Support strategic business initiatives, including ERP implementation, legal entity restructuring, and acquisitions.
Strengthen tax processes through automation, technology, and responsible AI adoption.
Partner with Finance, Legal, Commercial, and operational teams to provide practical tax solutions.
Develop and mentor an Indirect Tax Analyst while fostering a culture of accountability and continuous improvement.
Help drive ERM's long-term tax strategy while building your own path toward broader leadership responsibilities.

Qualifications & Experience
Required
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Taxation, or a related field.
8+ years of progressive tax experience in public accounting, industry, or a combination of both.
Strong expertise in U.S. federal, state, and local corporate tax compliance.
Experience with tax accounting under ASC 740 and working knowledge of IFRS reporting requirements.
Knowledge of U.S. indirect taxes, including sales and use tax, property tax, gross receipts taxes, transaction-based taxes, and business licensing requirements.
Experience reviewing work, managing priorities, and developing team members.
Experience managing external tax advisors and working with tax authorities.
Strong project management, problem-solving, analytical, and communication skills.
Ability to manage multiple priorities and deliver high-quality work in a fast-paced environment.
Preferred
CPA, MST, or equivalent professional qualification.
Exposure to Canadian corporate tax or indirect tax matters.
Experience within a multinational or professional services environment.
M&A, cross-border tax, contract review, or legal entity restructuring experience.
Experience supporting ERP implementations or finance transformation programs.
Familiarity with Microsoft Dynamics 365, SAP, Oracle, or other major ERP platforms.
Advanced Excel skills and experience with tax technology, reporting, workflow, or automation tools.
Interest in leveraging technology, analytics, and AI to improve tax operations and business outcomes.
Key Responsibilities:
Corporate Tax Compliance & Reporting
Lead U.S. federal, state, and local tax compliance activities.
Oversee Canadian corporate tax compliance with support from external providers.
Manage tax accounting and reporting under ASC 740 and IFRS.
Prepare tax forecasts, budgets, reconciliations, and provision calculations.
Resolve tax notices, audits, examinations, and regulatory inquiries.
Indirect Tax Leadership
Oversee U.S. indirect tax compliance, including sales and use tax, property tax, gross receipts taxes, and business licenses.
Lead and develop the Indirect Tax Analyst.
Review filings, reconciliations, audit support, and compliance documentation.
Manage tax audits, notices, and technical tax positions.
Business Partnering & Advisory
Advise stakeholders on tax implications of contracts, proposals, and commercial arrangements.
Support cross-border activities involving withholding taxes, permanent establishment risks, payroll matters, and treaty considerations.
Provide practical tax guidance that balances compliance and commercial objectives.
Strategic Projects & Transformation
Support acquisitions, restructuring initiatives, and post-acquisition integration activities.
Contribute tax expertise to ERP transformation and legal entity rationalization programs.
Partner with Finance, Technology, Legal, and Global Tax teams to implement future-state processes and controls.
Stakeholder & Advisor Management
Manage relationships with external advisors, ensuring quality, efficiency, and value.
Collaborate closely with the Global Tax team on transfer pricing, tax governance, and strategic initiatives.
Act as a trusted escalation point for complex tax matters across North America.
Governance, Technology & Continuous Improvement
Strengthen tax governance frameworks, controls, and documentation.
Drive process standardization and automation opportunities.
Support responsible adoption of AI and emerging tax technologies.
Monitor legislative developments and assess implications for the business.
