MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- High school diploma or GED.
- Qualified candidates will have a minimum experience requirement of the position for which they are applying.
- Must have knowledge of Work Zone Safety practices and possess a valid State of Florida Class B CDL driver license with airbrake endorsement, or obtain within six (6) months of employment.
- Trainee: Prior training in Wastewater Treatment Plant Operations preferred. A background in wastewater collection and lift station based pumping systems is desirable. Must obtain a State of Florida Department of Environmental Protection Class C Wastewater Operator’s license within eighteen (18) months of employment.
- C License: Possess a State of Florida Department of Environmental Protection Class C Wastewater Operator’s license. Supplemented by one (1) year of documented experience in water or wastewater treatment operations.
- B License: Possess a State of Florida Department of Environmental Protection Class B Wastewater Operator’s license. Supplemented by three (3) years of documented experience at the full performance level in wastewater treatment operations.
- A License: Possess a State of Florida Department of Environmental Protection Class A Wastewater Operator’s license. Supplemented by five (5) years of documented experience at the full performance level in wastewater treatment operations.
BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES:
- Duties vary upon each licensed position for A, B, C, or Trainee. Each position performs operational and maintenance duties of the City’s 3.85 MGD Wastewater Treatment Plant.
- Performs sampling and testing of wastewater streams and processes. Maintains automated sampling and testing of equipment. May keep records necessary for the operation of Wastewater Treatment Systems. Selected candidate may expect to operate heavy machinery, operate a sludge press and complete other related duties as assigned.
- Positions are subject to emergency call-outs and must be able to work overtime including nights, weekends, and holidays, as required. Performs other related duties as required or assigned.
EMPLOYMENT REQUIREMENTS:
- The selected candidate will have a background check, drug testing and complete a physical exam before employment. Tasks accomplished for this position involve regular and, at times, sustained physical exertion.
- Possession and maintenance of a valid Florida driver license is also required before employment.
The compensation package will start at the base salary range and may vary based on proven abilities of the individual selected. The City of Zephyrhills has an excellent benefit package, which includes medical, dental, life insurance and Florida Retirement System (FRS).
