Senior Project Manager

A Senior Project Manager / Project Manager / Architectural Project Manager is required to lead large, complex healthcare, hospital and medical projects for a highly regarded architecture and design practice in New York.

This opportunity is aimed at an accomplished Senior Project Manager who can own the client relationship, guide multidisciplinary teams and manage the commercial and operational performance of major healthcare projects. You will have genuine authority over projects while working alongside strong design and technical leaders.

Role Details

The Senior Project Manager / Project Manager will lead major healthcare, hospital, medical-center and clinical projects in New York.

You will:

• Take ownership of large healthcare projects from appointment through design, documentation and construction
• Develop trusted relationships with hospital systems, healthcare clients and institutional stakeholders
• Lead project meetings, executive presentations and client communications
• Manage contracts, scope, fees, project budgets, schedules, staffing plans and profitability
• Coordinate architects, designers, technical specialists, engineers and external consultants
• Establish clear project plans, responsibilities, milestones and decision-making processes
• Monitor project financial performance and address scope changes before additional work proceeds
• Lead risk management, quality control and project-compliance activities
• Balance design ambition with healthcare operations, technical requirements, cost and programme
• Guide and mentor Project Managers, architects and emerging team leaders
• Support proposals, interviews and relationship-led business development
• Maintain oversight of documentation and construction delivery without becoming removed from the work

The successful Senior Project Manager will understand the complexity of healthcare architecture, including acute-care hospitals, inpatient and outpatient environments, ambulatory facilities, medical centers or other highly serviced clinical buildings.

Requirements

• Current or recent title of Senior Project Manager, Project Manager or Architectural Project Manager
• At least 12 years of relevant architecture, engineering or construction experience
• Demonstrable experience leading major healthcare, hospital or clinical projects
• Experience managing large construction programmes, ideally valued at $70 million or more
• Strong knowledge of contracts, scope, fees, staffing, schedules and project financial performance
• Proven client leadership and multidisciplinary team-management skills
• Architectural or professional licensure is strongly preferred
• Working knowledge of Revit, Bluebeam, MS Project and project-planning or financial-management software
• Strong commercial judgment, communication and risk-management ability
• Based in, or able to commute consistently to, New York City
