This role is in the Financial Reporting and Accounting team, part of the Group Internal Finance team at Trustly, which also comprises Tax, Treasury, Payroll, Finance Operations and Finance Systems. The team is a dynamic and cross jurisdictional team, with an ethos of collaboration and continued improvement at its heart.
ABOUT THE ROLE
As a Senior Accountant at Trustly, you will play a pivotal role in maintaining the integrity of our financial statements, executing day to day general ledger accounting, and ensuring full regulatory and tax compliance across our US entities, based from our London office.
Working in a high growth FinTech environment, you will handle monthly financial closings, bank and account reconciliations, variance analysis, and internal controls under US GAAP. This is an excellent opportunity for a detail oriented accounting professional looking to step into an innovative global payments business and build scalable financial processes.
Key Responsibilities
Month End Close: Execute month end, quarter end, and year end close routines, including journal entries, accruals, prepayments, and intercompany reconciliations in accordance with US GAAP.
Financial Reporting: Prepare accurate balance sheet, income statement, and cash flow reconciliations, investigating and resolving variances promptly.
Cash and Treasury Accounting: Monitor daily bank movements, perform bank reconciliations across multi currency accounts, and track working capital requirements.
Tax and Statutory Compliance: Support quarterly and annual US federal, state, and local tax filings (corporate income tax, sales and use tax, commercial rent tax) in coordination with external tax advisors.
Audit Management: Serve as a key point of contact for external auditors during annual financial audits, preparing audit schedules, documentation, and workpapers.
Process Improvement and Systems: Support the implementation, optimization, and automation of core financial systems (e.g. NetSuite, Workday, ERP platforms) and internal controls (SOX readiness).
Cross Functional Collaboration: Partner with US Payroll, FP&A, Accounts Payable, and Global Finance teams to streamline cross departmental financial inputs and reporting.
Qualifications
The successful candidate will have:
ACA qualified (or equivalent), alongside experience working with US GAAP.
Relevant accounting experience, preferably from practice.
Solid command of US GAAP principles, financial statement consolidation, and intercompany accounting.
Hands on experience with mid to enterprise ERP systems (NetSuite, SAP, Oracle, or Workday Accounting) and advanced Excel capabilities (VLOOKUP, INDEX/MATCH, Pivot Tables).
Meticulous attention to detail, strong analytical capability, and the ability to operate independently in a fast paced environment.
