About The Role:
The Credit Manager - Ethiopia position is a field-based role within the Global Risk and Credit team in Ethiopia. The role holder will oversee and manage credit risk and other risks within the EasyBuy business. This role requires the design, implementation, and maintenance of robust credit risk controls and operational processes to strengthen portfolio health and compliance.
What you will be expected to do:
- Identify and classify customers at risk of default through data review and direct client interaction.
- Identify portfolio red flags and ensure timely reporting of the same.
- Ensure timely and accurate reporting of risk indicators and portfolio performance metrics.
- Review regional and Area trends, specific product trends, and propose remedies to address negative trends.
- Conduct internal audits to identify process gaps and ensure compliance with existing policies, including Underwriting, Collection processes, Welcome, Repossession processes, Change of Details, and other relevant procedures.
- Provide detailed findings with practical risk mitigation recommendations.
- Develop proactive collection approaches, including KYC and Underwriting practices aimed at enhancing the quality of clients onboarded.
- Generate, define, and implement field-based collection approaches through field teams to improve collections.
- Review existing policies and their impact on portfolio management.
- Recommend adjustments or updates based on market trends and field findings.
- Portfolio Segmentation:
- Ensure effective portfolio segmentation by assigning accounts from different buckets to specific users.
- Recommend segmentation changes where necessary based on portfolio performance and field findings.
- Ensure pilots in the field are well managed and tracked against defined success metrics.
- Engage relevant stakeholders throughout pilot implementation and review.
- Fraud Management:
- Ensure investigations into reported fraud cases are completed within required timelines.
- Track cases through to closure within SLA.
- Prepare comprehensive field reports covering data collation, process documentation, and operational insights.
- Ensure timely and accurate reporting of risk indicators and portfolio performance metrics.
- Maintain clear and accurate records relating to field activities, findings, and risk actions.
- Conduct industry research and review information collected from relevant sources.
- Propose changes that can strengthen Sun King Ethiopia’s market position across sales and collections.
- Additional Activities:
- Handle other tasks assigned by the Credit Manager and Risk Management team in relation to the scope of the role from time to time.
You might be a strong candidate if you have:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Finance, Risk Management, or a related business field, with over 10 years of related experience, preferably in Audit, Risk, Credit, Data, or related functions, including at least 5 years in a supervisory role.
- Relevant certification in Credit Management, Business Data, Statistics, Data, or Computer Science is an added advantage.
- Significant knowledge of data collection and field surveys.
- Excellent planning and organisational skills, with strong attention to detail and the ability to review complex information accurately.
