We provide person-centred support tailored to each participant's individual needs, preferences and goals. Our Disability Support Workers play an important role in helping participants remain independent, socially connected and actively involved in their communities.
Current Opportunity – Berowra, NSW 2081
We are currently seeking friendly, reliable and engaging Disability Support Workers to provide consistent 1:1 support to a participant in Berowra, NSW 2081.
This is primarily a companionship and community access role, with only minimal assistance with self-care required.
The participant is looking for someone who can provide genuine companionship, assist with getting out into the community and support everyday activities while encouraging as much independence as possible.
A good personality match and the ability to build a comfortable, respectful and consistent relationship with the participant are particularly important.
The Role
Support may include:
- Companionship and social engagement.
- Community access and social participation.
- Cafés, lunch and social outings.
- Shopping and everyday errands.
- Attending appointments.
- Walks, parks and local outings.
- Recreational and leisure activities.
- Exploring new interests and activities.
- Transport within the community.
- Encouragement with everyday routines.
- Minimal self-care/personal care assistance.
- Light assistance with daily living where required.
- Supporting independence, confidence and choice.
- Maintaining accurate progress notes and support documentation.
This is not a high-intensity personal care role. The primary focus is companionship, community participation and supporting the participant to enjoy greater independence in everyday life.
About You:
We're looking for someone who is:
- Friendly, positive and easy to talk to.
- Reliable and punctual.
- Patient, respectful and understanding.
- Naturally engaging and able to build genuine rapport.
- Comfortable participating in community activities.
- Happy to provide companionship and conversation.
- Confident supporting shopping, appointments and outings.
- Comfortable providing minimal self-care assistance when required.
- Encouraging of independence and participant choice.
- Able to work independently and use appropriate initiative.
- Interested in developing a consistent working relationship with one participant.
- Personality and reliability are particularly important for this role.
What You'll Need:
Applicants must have, or be willing to obtain where applicable:
- Certificate III in Individual Support or an equivalent/relevant qualification.
- Current NDIS Worker Screening Check.
- Current National Police Check.
- Current First Aid Certificate.
- Current CPR certification.
- Completion of the NDIS Worker Orientation Module – Quality, Safety and You.
- Australian working rights.
- Current driver's licence.
- Reliable, comprehensively insured vehicle suitable for transporting the participant.
- Australian Business Number (ABN) or willingness to obtain one.
- A professional, reliable and participant-focused approach.
