Description
This position is responsible for the daily operations of the quality assurance department, food safety practices, quality standards, and staff. Duties include but are not limited to:
· Must have the ability to perform all positions within the department
· Develop, implement, and manage processes to ensure that products meet required specifications for quality, function, and reliability prior to delivery
· Identify and set appropriate quality standards and parameters for products
· Communicate food safety practices, procedures, and specifications
· Participate and coordinate product testing processes
· Analyze issues with regards to specification deviations and other problems
· Enforce proper FSQA standards across the facility
· Recommend and facilitate solutions to departmental issues
· Review client, customer, and user feedback
· Ensure product meets required specifications for quality, function, and reliability
· Maintain compliance with federal, state, and local regulations, guidelines, and policies
· Perform other duties as assigned
Supervisory Responsibilities:
· Assist in the selection of new employees
· Oversee new employee training and continued performance monitoring
· Schedule and oversee the daily workflow of the quality assurance staff
· Handle discipline and termination of employees in accordance with company policy
· Complete performance evaluations that are timely and constructive
· Monitor expenditures: implement corrective actions if needed
· Communicate with customers and vendors as needed
· Ensure that all activities are completed in a timely and accurate manner
· Assist in the quality training and certification process

Education and Experience
· High school diploma or equivalent required
· Bachelor’s degree in Food Science, animal science or related field preferred
· Five years of experience in meat processing, food manufacturing, or related field
· Three years of supervisory experience required
· Completion of on-the-job training may be substituted for educational requirements
Physical Requirements
· Regular periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
· Prolonged periods working on feet, using tools, and performing repetitive actions that entail frequent bending and stooping.
· Must be able to move and lift up to 50 pounds at a time.
· Ability to move in, around and under equipment.
· Work in a refrigerated environment.
