Team Overview and Job Responsibilities
This position reports to the Canada Regional Quality Manager. The Prescott, ON, Canada facility produces low voltage, and medium voltage power cables. The Quality Manager will be responsible for the continued development and integration of quality culture into our comprehensive manufacturing lean initiative. In this position, the Quality Manager will work closely with other members of the manufacturing operations team, engineering, and other support leaders to assure the effective implementation of quality culture which will enable Prysmian to better meet our customer’s product quality, cost, and service requirements, and contribute to manufacturing productivity targets/scrap reduction.
Principle Functional Responsibilities:
This position is responsible to establish, implement, direct, and maintain quality assurance and scrap control programs and procedures throughout the various stages of manufacturing to assure a finished product with the highest quality possible and while keeping material scrap at a minimum.
- Responsible to Lead problem solving efforts at the plant level, to be the main driver of positive change ensuring Continuous Improvement.
- Responsible for maintaining the plant's ISO initiative and direct contact with customers and UL/CSA representatives.
- Perform all duties conformance to the appropriate safety standards.
- Support and maintain all processes and procedures to ensure compliance with ISO 9001 QMS, also responsible to support the HSE department compliance with ISO 45001 and ISO 14001 Management Systems.
- Maintain database to provide analyzed data reports as necessary to aid in production control, as well as compliance with established product specifications for customers.
- Manage the internal audit process and the customer claims process.
- Oversee calibration systems for all equipment needing internal or external calibration services.
- Review and compare all published design specifications, customer, UL, and CSA specifications and maintenance of quality levels for internal and customer review.
- Conducts audits for all test equipment, and manufacturing equipment for conformance with corporate safety regulations. Interfaces customer and regulatory agency inspection representatives during scheduled and non-scheduled plant visits.
- Develops a thorough knowledge of the documentation associated with the various inspections and communicates to the plant.
- Investigates returned materials due to quality complaints as requested and ensures the necessary corrective action is initiated to prevent recurrence.
- Perform other reasonable assigned tasks by Direct Management and Customers.
Supervision Scope
Direct supervision of technical support and on a project-by-project basis. Direct supervision of the Prescott Electrical test, test technicians, Quality Assurance Laboratory and Laboratory Technicians.

- Knowledge of process controls and product quality planning techniques such as Gauge R&R, SPC, VSM, and Control Plans.

- Team player, able to create and maintain positive work relations with the rest of the management team and the operations team on the manufacturing shopfloor.
- This position requires extensive presence on the shop floor, teamwork at all levels of the organization and daily decision making on material and processes.
- Must have experience developing SOP’s, work instructions and other supporting documents to address process and ISO requirements.
- Demonstrate proficiency in conducting risk management activities including Process Diagram, Cpk/Ppk studies and PMEA.
- Must be able to manage multiple, complex tasks and deal easily with pressure on a day in and day out basis.
- Must be able to motivate, communicate and drive continuous improvement initiatives. Critical thinker, with excellent analytical abilities.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with solid planning, leadership, and administrative skills.
- High energy and demonstrates urgency and fast pace.
- Good understanding of business principles and practices; can effectively manage the manufacturing function with a bottom-line result.
Qualifications:
- BS degree in engineering
- Minimum of three (3) of quality engineering experience in a manufacturing environment
- Leadership experience in a team-based environment.
- Strong database background, proficient user of Microsoft Office & Project, Visio, Minitab software systems.
- Experience with SAP usage is a plus.
- Strong manufacturing background: ability to understand and develop appropriate product specifications.
- Six Sigma and Lean Manufacturing Training Preferred.
- Experience with Continuous Improvement Projects preferred.
- ISO Quality and HSE management systems (ISO9001, 14001,45001) knowledge/qualification and auditing experience preferred.
- ASQ Certification in Quality Engineering is a plus.
- Proven ability to work in a team setting and a strong manufacturing floor presence.
- Experience with wire and cable is a plus.
