Election Worker - Temporary/Part-Time - Multiple Assignments
Pay Range: $17 .20-$21.00 per hour, depending on assignment
Benefits: No Benefits
The Opportunity
Utah County Elections is seeking dependable, detail-oriented individuals to assist with the Elections. Election Workers provide essential support to ensure elections are conducted accurately, efficiently, securely, and in accordance with established election procedures.
This recruitment will be used to fill multiple temporary, part-time election assignments. Applicants will apply once and, if selected, will be assigned to a position based on qualifications, experience, availability, operational needs, and the requirements of each assignment.
Assignments may include:
Ballot Center - Part Time
Ballot Center staff assist with the processing and preparation of ballots and election materials. Duties may include:
• Assist with a variety of election and ballot-processing tasks using office equipment, computers,
election equipment, and mail-processing equipment.
• Assist with vote center equipment testing and setup.
• Process returned, completed, and undeliverable ballots.
• Coordinate and prepare ballots for scanning and election-result processing.
• Assist with receiving returned ballots and verifying voter signatures.
• Sort and organize ballots and election materials for election-day counting and other processing needs.
• Follow current and accurate election procedures.
Elections - Part Time
Elections staff provide administrative, and voter-support services under the direction of the Elections Supervisor. Duties may include:
• Perform basic data entry tasks
• Provide general support for Elections Office operations.
• Assist voters and provide election-related information in accordance with established procedures.
• Assist with other election duties and responsibilities as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Ability to follow detailed instructions and established election procedures.
• Ability to work accurately and maintain attention to detail.
• Ability to work effectively with the public and other election staff.
• Basic computer skills as required by the assigned position.
One year of general clerical support or related work experience may be preferred for certain assignments. Equivalent combinations of education and experience may also be considered.
Preference may be given for certain assignments to applicants with a documented typing speed of at least 40 words per minute.
Assignment and Scheduling
Work schedules, hours, duration of employment, and pay rates vary by assignment and election needs. Some assignments may require extended hours, evening work, or work on Election Day.
