Fixed Asset / Inventory Accountant

Who: A growing organization is seeking a detail-oriented Fixed Asset / Inventory Accountant with 2–4 years of accounting experience to join its finance team.

Position Overview:

The Fixed Asset / Inventory Accountant will be responsible for maintaining accurate fixed asset and inventory records while supporting the monthly close process and ensuring transactions are properly recorded in accordance with company accounting policies. This role is ideal for an accountant with 2–4 years of experience who enjoys detailed reconciliations, working with operational data, and partnering with teams outside of accounting.

Key Responsibilities:

• Maintain the fixed asset subledger, including additions, disposals, transfers, and depreciation.

• Prepare and record monthly fixed asset and inventory-related journal entries.

• Perform balance sheet reconciliations and investigate discrepancies.

• Manage inventory accounting, including inventory reconciliations, adjustments, and variance analysis.

• Reconcile fixed asset and inventory subledgers to the general ledger.

• Support month-end and year-end close activities.

• Review capital expenditures and ensure appropriate classification and capitalization.

• Partner with operations and other departments to research asset and inventory activity.

• Assist with physical inventory and fixed asset counts as needed.

• Prepare schedules and supporting documentation for internal and external audits.

• Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes, internal controls, and reporting.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.

• 2–4 years of relevant accounting experience.

• Experience with fixed asset accounting, inventory accounting, or a combination of both strongly preferred.

• Solid understanding of general ledger accounting, journal entries, reconciliations, and month-end close.

• Strong Excel skills and experience working with accounting or ERP systems.

• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with excellent attention to detail.

• Ability to investigate discrepancies and communicate effectively with accounting and operational teams.

• Ability to work effectively in a collaborative, hybrid environment.
