Summary:
The Human Resources Generalist is responsible for supporting and administering the daily operations of the Human Resources department. This position serves as a strategic partner to employees and management by overseeing payroll administration, recruiting, employee relations, benefits administration, training, compliance, performance management, leave administration, and HR recordkeeping. The HR Generalist ensures compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws while promoting a positive workplace culture aligned with company values.
Requirements
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Payroll Administration
- Process weekly payroll accurately and on time.
- Maintain payroll records and employee earnings information.
- Process new hires, terminations, promotions, pay changes, and deductions.
- Coordinate payroll with benefits deductions, garnishments, and tax withholdings.
- Ensure compliance with wage and hour regulations, including overtime requirements.
- Prepare payroll reports for management as needed.
Benefits Administration
- Administer employee benefit programs including medical, dental, vision, life insurance, disability insurance, retirement plans, and other company-sponsored benefits.
- Assist employees during open enrollment and qualifying life events.
- Coordinate with benefit vendors and third-party administrators.
- Answer employee questions regarding benefit eligibility and coverage.
- Maintain accurate benefit records.
Leave Administration
- Administer Family and Medical Leave (FMLA), Short-Term Disability (STD), Long-Term Disability (LTD), and other leave programs.
- Coordinate leave documentation with employees, healthcare providers, and third-party administrators.
- Monitor leave usage and communicate with employees regarding return-to-work requirements.
- Ensure compliance with applicable leave laws and company policies.
HRIS & Recordkeeping
- Maintain accurate employee records within the Human Resources Information System (HRIS).
- Process employee status changes.
- Generate HR reports and metrics.
- Maintain confidentiality of personnel information.
- Ensure document retention complies with company policy and legal requirements.
Recruitment & Staffing
- Coordinate the full recruitment cycle.
- Post job openings and maintain recruiting platforms.
- Screen applications and schedule interviews.
- Conduct interviews and assist hiring managers with candidate selection.
- Coordinate pre-employment screenings, background checks, drug testing, and employment eligibility verification (Form I-9/E-Verify).
- Prepare offer letters and onboarding documentation.
- Coordinate orientation for new employees.
Employee Relations
- Serve as a resource for employee questions regarding company policies and procedures.
- Assist in resolving employee concerns and workplace conflicts.
- Conduct workplace investigations as assigned.
- Support disciplinary actions and performance improvement processes.
- Promote positive employee engagement initiatives.
- Maintain confidentiality of sensitive employee information.
Training & Development
- Coordinate new hire orientation and onboarding.
- Schedule and maintain required employee training.
- Assist with leadership development initiatives.
- Track mandatory compliance training.
- Maintain employee training records.
- Support supervisors with employee development programs.
Performance Management
- Assist managers with employee performance evaluations.
- Support corrective action and performance improvement plans.
- Monitor completion of annual performance reviews.
- Provide guidance on performance management best practices.
HR Compliance
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws, including:
- FLSA
- FMLA
- ADA
- Title VII
- OSHA
- EEOC regulations
- USCIS Form I-9 requirements
- Maintain employee personnel files.
- Assist with internal and external audits.
- Maintain HR policies and procedures.
- Ensure required labor law postings are current.
Employee Engagement
- Assist in planning employee recognition programs.
- Coordinate employee events and wellness initiatives.
- Support internal communication efforts.
- Promote company culture and employee morale.
Additional Responsibilities
- Assist with HR policy development and implementation.
- Participate in special HR projects.
- Support annual compensation and salary review processes.
- Maintain professional knowledge of employment laws and HR best practices.
- Perform other duties as assigned.

- Minimum of 1 years' of direct related experience
- Bachelor's degree preferred and/or a combination of education and relevant experience
- Solid basic knowledge of human resources laws, practices, policies, and procedures
- Previous benefits administration, payroll and employee relations experience preferred
- Proficient in Excel
