Hourly Rate:

AE-RA-Tuteur / TA-RA-Tutor : $32.84 ou/or $51.75 (Sept. 2025 - Aug. 2026)

The academic year starts on September 1 and ends on August 31.

Undergraduate students will be paid at the lower rate; while graduate students will be paid at the higher rate.

These rates do not included vacation pay nor statutory pay.

These rates will be applied until a new collective agreement is ratified. Retro will be paid after the ratification.

Requirements and Nature of Work:

Responsibilities:

The research assistant will be responsible for a variety of tasks, including, but not limited to:

  • Creating a longitudinal dataset of Canadian workers using restricted access data at the uOttawa RDC.

  • Merging additional datasets to the worker panel.

  • Cleaning and analysis the resulting longitudinal data.

  • Developing reproducible scripts using the statistical language R.

  • Meeting with the professors to document the progress in the tasks and proactively seek guidance if needed.

Qualifications:

  • Enrolled in a graduate degree in economics. The candidate should have a good basis in coding in R and RStudio and the ability to communicate the data cleaning tasks to the professors effectively.

Preferred qualifications

  • Experience with data cleaning with R and RStudio.

  • Experience with using version control softwares such as Git, and online repository tools such as GitHub.

  • Good verbal and written communication skills.

  • Ability to work independently.
