Assist the Director in managing the building maintenance and equipment operation of the various building components, including gymnasium, natatorium, fitness center, aerobics room, locker rooms/shower areas, and public restrooms.
Will be responsible for administration of lifeguards, swim instructors, fitness instructors and class schedules.
Evaluates applicants, trains, and coordinates schedules lifeguards, swim instructors and fitness instructors.
Ensures compliance with regulations, and safety and health standards for all building uses and participants.
Issues written and oral instructions; assigns duties; examines work for exactness, neatness, and conformance to policies and procedures.
Performs a variety of miscellaneous duties such as answering telephone, typing correspondence, running errands, picking up supplies needed for activities, making arrangements for rental and use of Indoor Recreation Building, helping to set up tables and chairs for classes, etc.
Promotes the Facility and it’s programs; provides information regarding recreation programs to school officials, other recreation officials, community service groups, other departments, and the general public.
Will handle facility rentals and be responsible for opening and closing to rentals during special hours.
Performs or assists subordinates in performing duties; adjusts errors and complaints.
Responds to public inquiries about recreation programs made by telephone and correspondence.
Operates a variety of equipment such as personal computer, motor vehicle, calculator, telephone, copy and fax machine, mobile or portable radio, sports equipment used in recreation programs, maintenance equipment, swimming pool equipment, chlorination system, pumps, boiler, valves, filtration devices, etc.
Uses a variety of tools and supplies such as miscellaneous hand and power tools, gauges, general office supplies, etc.; and a variety of computer software such as word processing, etc.
ADDITIONAL JOB FUNCTIONS
Works with various community groups, local recreation groups, and individuals in coordination rental uses of portions of the Central Clemson Indoor Recreation Center as needed.
Assist the Director in any facility related issues as assigned.
When necessary will perform custodial duties.
Performs other related duties as required.This position requires a high school diploma or GED supplemented by two years of progressively responsible experience in recreation management, programming, and equipment; or any equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities. Must possess a valid South Carolina driver's license. Must posses or be able to obtain First Aid and Cardio-Pulmonary Resuscitation certification. Must possess or be able to obtain a Red Cross Lifeguard certification to cover pools as needed.
