Content and Communications Manager, Aerospace and Defense

The problem

The defense industrial base is at a historic inflection point. Manufacturing capacity is at the center of conversation.

Demand is surging across munitions, drones and space, and programs still lose years waiting for parts. The machines are already in the country - what's missing is coordination.

The layer that finds capacity, qualifies it, removes red tape, and moves work across it without the paperwork and handoffs that stall programs today. That layer was never built because it took armies of people to run, and with AI it's buildable now. Whoever builds it becomes the way the US ramps production.

Jiga is building that layer. We route demand using AI to the right US manufacturers, operate as supplier of record with full traceability, and turn into a production arm for custom mechanical parts. We work with the hottest defense startups and traditional Primes. VC-backed, growing 4x year over year.

We are in a unique position, exposed to how the manufacturing landscape really works with a strong story worth telling and almost no one telling it.

The role

You'll own how Jiga shows up in aerospace and defense. Positioning, messaging, content, media relations, events, podcasts, speaking slots, news placements. You write, pitch and place.

In this market, comms carries more than brand. It drives top of funnel, credibility, market education, hiring, fundraising, and searchability.

What you'll do

• Direct our positioning and messaging for the aerospace and defense audience, and keep it sharp and consistent everywhere we show up.
• Create content yourself: articles, op-eds, industry insights, case studies, LinkedIn.
• Build and work relationships with the journalists, editors, and podcast hosts who cover defense tech, aerospace, and manufacturing. Pitch actively around program news, policy moves, and our own milestones.
• Get us out there: news placements, speaking slots, podcast appearances, awards, conference presence.
• Run senior leader thought leadership across social, podcasts, and traditional media.
• Make us findable. Own how Jiga surfaces when senior leaders search for US manufacturing capacity.
• Manage freelancers or agencies where they add leverage, with you setting the agenda and doing the core work in-house.
• Give sales, BD, and fundraising the credibility and materials they need to open doors.

You're a fit if you

• Have 7+ years in communications, PR, or content in defense tech or aerospace, ideally close to manufacturing and hardware.
• Bring live media relationships in this world and can name the reporters and outlets you'd pitch first.
• Know what lands with this audience: which narratives move supply chain leaders, program offices, and defense tech operators, and which get ignored.
• Write fast and well, and can show placed work: bylines, ghost-written executive content, stories you pitched into print.
• Have earned coverage for a company without a big brand behind you, and know what work it actually takes.
• Have natural bias for execution. You'd rather place three stories this month than perfect a strategy deck.

This role is not for you if

• You've only worked at brands big enough that reporters call you.
• Your background is general B2B tech comms with no defense or aerospace depth.
• You want to manage an agency that does the actual work.
• You measure success in impressions instead of whether the right people found us.
