36POSITION PURPOSE:
The Cardiac Monitor Technician (CMT) observes heart rhythms for all cardiac monitored patients in the hospital.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Able to accurately read cardiac monitors.
- Able to urgently communicate pertinent information to the charge nurse/physicians
- Continually scrutinizes and documents individual heart rhythms.
- Able to take initiative to seek out charge nurse/leadership if unable to differentiate a cardiac monitor reading.
- Demonstrates knowledge in understanding the default alarms and adjustment of alarms. May only adjust high and low rate alarms when heart rate is sustained and alarm level and physician and charge nurse aware.
- Demonstrates the ability to function as a C.N.A. and is able to perform that job function in conjunction with other cross-trained positions.
- Able to communicate often with other nursing units regarding cardiac rhythms and SpO2.
- Able to complete required competency for rhythm recognition and appropriate interventions.
- Visually observe real time video of patients in rooms 437-446 and alert patients nurse when necessary.
SPECIALIZED KNOW-HOW & REQUIREMENTS:
- High School graduate or equivalent.
- Current CNA on the IL Registry required.
- 1+ year of experience in acute care preferred.
- Must successfully complete the Cardiac Monitor Tech class.
- BLS Required within 30 days of hire.
Compensation Range
