JR110445 New College Grad - RAM RDA Process Engineer

Our vision is to transform how the world uses information to enrich life for all.

Micron Technology is a world leader in innovating memory and storage solutions that accelerate the transformation of information into intelligence, inspiring the world to learn, communicate and advance faster than ever.

As a Realtime Defect Analysis (RDA) HVM Process Engineer at Micron, you will work with state-of-the-art defect inspection systems, advanced data analytics, and semiconductor manufacturing technologies to identify, investigate, and resolve process and defect-related challenges in a high-volume manufacturing environment.

This role provides an opportunity to develop technical expertise while contributing to yield improvement, defect reduction, and manufacturing efficiency initiatives. You will collaborate with teams across Process Integration, Process Development, Yield Enhancement, Data Science, and global manufacturing sites to detect process excursions, improve defect visibility, and support technology transfer into High Volume Manufacturing (HVM).

In this role, you will leverage advanced analytics, automation, and AI-enabled tools to uncover insights, accelerate problem-solving, and improve manufacturing decision-making. You will gain hands-on experience with defect inspection equipment, process monitoring systems, statistical analysis, and data-driven process improvement methodologies.

As an RDA Process Engineer, you will support experimentation, defect reduction projects, baseline health monitoring, and process optimization efforts while building a strong technical foundation in semiconductor manufacturing and defect analysis.

Responsibilities

  • Review and analyze process flows, inspection data, and manufacturing metrics to identify defect trends, process anomalies, and yield-impacting issues.
  • Investigate process excursions and support root cause analysis activities to drive corrective and preventive actions.
  • Monitor baseline health indicators and process control metrics to maintain process stability and manufacturing performance.
  • Utilize AI-enabled tools, advanced analytics, and automation solutions to improve engineering productivity and accelerate problem-solving.
  • Apply statistical analysis and data-driven methodologies to identify opportunities for defect reduction and process improvement.
  • Support experimentation activities and evaluate results to drive process optimization and learning.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional engineering teams to improve process performance, defect detection capability, and manufacturing efficiency.
  • Work with advanced defect inspection technologies and innovative detection strategies to enable earlier identification of manufacturing issues.
  • Develop and improve analytical methods, monitoring strategies, and data visualization techniques to enhance process visibility.
  • Collaborate with global manufacturing sites to share Best Known Methods (BKMs) and maintain alignment across the Micron manufacturing network.
  • Participate actively in technical discussions and contribute creative ideas that improve manufacturing performance and operational effectiveness.
  • Demonstrate a Continuous Improvement Process (CIP) mindset and proactively identify opportunities to improve quality, efficiency, and productivity.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Materials Science and Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Physics, Computer Engineering, Data Science, or a related STEM discipline.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a collaborative team environment.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Demonstrated willingness to learn, adapt, and grow in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
  • Passion for innovation, continuous improvement, and technical problem solving.
  • Micron is an Equal Opportunity Employer that values People, Innovation, Customer Focus, Tenacity, and Collaboration.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Internship, co-op, undergraduate research, or senior project experience related to engineering, semiconductor manufacturing, data analytics, or process improvement.
  • Exposure to data analysis, scripting, programming, or automation tools such as Python, SQL, JMP, Power BI, MATLAB, R, or similar technologies.
  • Interest in leveraging artificial intelligence (AI), machine learning, automation, and digital manufacturing tools to improve engineering workflows and manufacturing outcomes.
  • Understanding of statistical process control (SPC), root cause analysis (RCA), experimental design, or continuous improvement methodologies.
  • Demonstrated curiosity for investigating process anomalies, identifying patterns in data, and solving complex technical problems.
  • Strong desire to learn new technologies and apply technical knowledge in a manufacturing environment.
  • Excellent technical, analytical, and communication skills.
  • Experience with semiconductor processing, metrology, inspection systems, defect analysis, or yield improvement activities is desirable but not required.
  • Exposure to data analytics, programming, automation, or artificial intelligence (AI) tools, with a demonstrated interest in applying AI-driven insights and data-driven methodologies to solve complex engineering and manufacturing challenges.
