As a Manufacturing Engineer, you will work closely with Manufacturing, Quality, Operations, and Global Engineering teams to support the production of ultrasound probes. This position provides the opportunity to apply technical and analytical skills to manufacturing processes, equipment, documentation, and continuous improvement activities in a regulated medical device environment.

The Manufacturing Engineer is responsible for supporting manufacturing operations through process improvement, problem solving, data analysis, and project execution. This role offers the opportunity to develop technical expertise while contributing to product transfers, process sustainment, quality initiatives, and manufacturing optimization efforts.

Job Description

Roles Responsibilities

  • Support production processes, tooling, and equipment to maintain a validated manufacturing environment while meeting safety, quality, delivery, and cost objectives.
  • Provide responsive manufacturing floor support by investigating issues, gathering and analyzing data, and partnering with Operations and Quality teams to implement effective solutions.
  • Analyze process and product performance data to identify trends, evaluate root causes, and recommend improvements.
  • Develop and implement cost-effective improvements to product quality, process capability, productivity, ergonomics, and manufacturing cost.
  • Create and maintain manufacturing documentation including work instructions, process specifications, engineering reports, and records required by change control processes.
  • Plan and execute assigned engineering tasks and projects, tracking progress and communicating risks, issues, and results.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional and global teams to support product transfers, process sustainment, and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Support new product introductions, product transfers, process validation activities, and continuous improvement projects to ensure successful manufacturing execution and compliance with quality system requirements.
  • Participate in equipment and tooling evaluations, qualification activities, troubleshooting efforts, and manufacturing process improvements.
  • Support risk assessments, process verification activities, validation efforts, and change control processes under established engineering guidance.
  • Follow applicable Environmental Health & Safety (EHS), Quality System, and regulatory requirements.
  • Build technical knowledge of manufacturing processes, products, tooling, and equipment while independently completing work within an assigned scope.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Industrial, Manufacturing, Electrical, Biomedical, Chemical, Materials Engineering, Engineering Technology, or a related engineering discipline from an accredited university or college.
  • 0-3 years of experience in an engineering discipline.
  • Relevant internships, co-op assignments, academic projects, laboratory experience, research activities, or manufacturing experience may be considered.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to analyze data, solve problems using a structured approach, and develop practical recommendations.
  • Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively across multiple functions.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
  • Ability to plan and execute assigned tasks while managing priorities and meeting commitments.

Desired Characteristics

  • Internship, co-op, project, or work experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Exposure to process-intensive or regulated manufacturing environments, including medical devices, pharmaceuticals, life sciences, or other quality-system-controlled industries.
  • Familiarity with Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, root-cause analysis, statistical methods, or continuous improvement tools.
  • Exposure to process validation, equipment qualification, risk assessment, or change-control activities.
  • Experience with manufacturing systems and tools such as ERP, MES, quality management systems, or data analysis applications.
  • Working knowledge of engineering and data-analysis tools such as Excel, Minitab, CAD, or similar software.
  • Hands-on aptitude and interest in learning manufacturing processes, tooling, equipment, and product requirements.
  • Exposure to precision manufacturing, electromechanical assembly, medical devices, ceramics, polymers, or transferred-product manufacturing environments.
  • Strong curiosity and desire to develop long-term technical expertise within manufacturing engineering.
