Position Overview (Vice President or Director)
This role focuses on asset-based finance (ABF) co-investment opportunities in private debt. The successful candidate will play a critical role in sourcing, analyzing, and executing ABF co-investment transactions, preparing recommendations for the Firm’s Investment Committee, and supporting the broader Private Debt platform. A deep understanding of private markets and experience in executing ABF single transactions is required. Familiarity with ABF-focused GPs is an advantage but not mandatory.
Essential Job Functions
- Lead and support ABF co-investment transactions from origination to initial screening through execution, including due diligence, structuring, and closing
- Maintain and improve existing relationships with GPs in the ABF space to increase co-investment flow; build out new GP relationships in the ABF space
- Train analysts in the US to expand the capabilities of the investment team within the ABF market
- Prepare high-quality Investment Memorandums aligned with StepStone standards
- Perform market research and analyze macroeconomic trends with a focus on ABF sectors
- Build and interpret ABF-specific financial models for ABF strategies and structured credit assets
- Communicate investment theses clearly and defend recommendations in Investment Committee settings
ABF Focus Areas
Examples of relevant ABF strategies include:
- Consumer Lending (Credit Cards, Auto, etc.)
- Aircraft Leasing
- Litigation Finance
- Significant Risk Transfers (SRTs)
- Royalties
- Other specialized asset-backed opportunities.
Qualifications
- BA/BS in Business, Finance, Economics, or Accounting
- Demonstrated track record of academic and professional success
- Experience executing ABF single transactions or ABF co-investments
- Strong analytical and quantitative skills, including ABF-specific modeling
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- CFA designation a plus
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Applied experience in valuation and investment analysis, ideally in ABF structures
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment
- Team-oriented mindset with strong interpersonal skills
Salary Range: 190,000 - $210,000
The salary range is an estimate of pay for this position. Actual pay may vary depending on job-related factors that can include location, education, skill, and experience. The salary range does not include any benefits or other forms of possible compensation that may be available to employees.
