What you'll do...
Role summary:The Senior Technician, Facility Services, HVAC/Refrigeration, leads the installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of commercial and industrial HVAC/R systems, ensuring optimal performance and regulatory compliance. This role oversees preventive maintenance programs, manages refrigerant handling, and coordinates field teams to resolve complex issues efficiently. The position requires adherence to safety standards and environmental protocols while supporting operational priorities through effective resource management and technical expertise. The Senior Technician also mentors team members, contributes to process improvements, and participates in on-call rotations to address critical business needs promptly.

The Facility Services team ensures seamless store operations by maintaining buildings, equipment, and critical systems with a focus on safety and compliance. This team handles routine and complex repairs, manages maintenance schedules, and oversees contractor work to support operational reliability. Collaborating closely with stakeholders, members implement effective solutions and uphold quality standards. They operate specialized equipment safely and provide hands-on training to develop technical expertise. What you'll do:
- Oversee installation, commissioning, and maintenance of HVAC/R systems, including refrigeration units and control panels.
- Lead diagnostics and troubleshooting of mechanical, electrical, and refrigerant issues to ensure optimal system performance.
- Implement and monitor preventive maintenance programs to extend equipment life and minimize downtime.
- Manage refrigerant handling, inventory control, and vendor relationships to support timely repairs and compliance.
- Supervise and mentor field teams, providing hands-on training and evaluating skill development.
- Ensure adherence to OSHA, EPA, and HVAC/R codes through inspections and documentation.
- Coordinate service calls, manage workloads, and support on-call incident response.
- Lead process improvements and special projects to enhance operational efficiency.
What you'll bring:
- Proven expertise in installation, commissioning, and maintenance of HVAC/R systems, including refrigeration units and building pneumatics.
- Strong diagnostic and troubleshooting skills for mechanical, electrical, and refrigerant-related issues in commercial and industrial settings.
- Knowledge of OSHA standards, EPA refrigerant handling protocols, and compliance with federal, state, and local HVAC/R codes.
- Experience leading field teams, mentoring technicians, and managing escalated service issues effectively.
- Ability to manage parts inventory, vendor relationships, and coordinate service calls to meet business priorities.
- Proficient in documenting work orders, maintenance logs, and submitting required reports accurately.
- Skilled in operating heavy machinery and company vehicles safely and in accordance with policies.

The hourly wage range for this position is $35.00 - $70.00* *The actual hourly rate will equal or exceed the required minimum wage applicable to the job location. Additional compensation in the form of premiums may be paid in amounts ranging from $0.35 per hour to $3.00 per hour in specific circumstances. Premiums may be based on schedule, facility, season, or specific work performed. Multiple premiums may apply if applicable criteria are met.

Minimum Qualifications...
Outlined below are the required minimum qualifications for this position. If none are listed, there are no minimum qualifications.
Option 1: 3 years’ experience in HVAC/grocery rack refrigeration.Option 2: 6 years’ experience in HVAC/grocery rack refrigeration and Associate of Applied Science (AAS) in Air Conditioning and Refrigeration.
Hold and maintain Type I and Type II or Universal Environmental Protection Agency certification for refrigerant handling.
Where required, HVAC-R/ Mechanical Journeyman.
1 year’s experience in plumbing, electrical, material handling equipment, or related area or 2 years’ Walmart store experience.
Valid state-issued driver’s license and ability to pass a motor vehicle report.
Commercial driving record with no convictions for DUI, DWI, OUI within the last five (5) years.
Commercial driving record with no more than two (2) moving violations in the last three (3) years.
No preventable accidents while operating a commercial motor vehicle in the last three (3) years.
No serious traffic violations, as defined by the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations, while operating a commercial motor vehicle in the last three (3) years.

Completion of a 2-year technical/vocational HVAC/R program or 2-year associate’s of applied science A/C and refrigeration., Experience using word processing, spreadsheet, email, and presentation software (for example, Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint)., Prior work experience reading blueprints, schematics, and wiring diagrams., Prior work experience using hand tools, power tools, and testing equipment., Prior work experience with Glycol and C02 systems.
