Job Description
The Data Architect is responsible for defining, designing, and governing enterprise data architecture to enable business growth, regulatory compliance, analytics, AI/ML capabilities, and operational excellence. This role partners with business leaders, product teams, data engineers, architects, governance teams, and technology stakeholders to establish scalable data solutions, standards, and models that support strategic business objectives and enterprise-wide data reuse. The Data Architect serves as a bridge between business strategy and technology implementation by translating business requirements into scalable conceptual, logical, and physical data architectures while ensuring alignment with enterprise governance, security, and data quality standards.
Roles & Responsibilities
- Identify opportunities to leverage data for operational efficiency, customer experience, analytics, and AI initiatives.
- Design and maintain conceptual, logical, and physical data models.
- Define enterprise data standards, naming conventions, and modeling best practices.
- Create scalable architectures that support operational, analytical, and AI/ML workloads.
- Develop domain-driven data models and reusable enterprise data assets.
- Collaborate with Data Governance organizations to establish data standards, policies, and stewardship processes.
- Define business metadata, reference data, business glossaries, and taxonomies.
- Promote data quality, consistency, accuracy, completeness, and trust across enterprise data assets.
- Ensure compliance with regulatory, risk management, and information security requirements.
- Lead requirements gathering sessions with business stakeholders.
- Translate business processes, KPIs, and use cases into information models and data structures.
- Facilitate alignment between business and technology architecture roadmaps.
- Design data flows supporting real-time, batch, streaming, and event-driven architectures.
- Collaborate with data engineers to implement robust and scalable pipelines.
- Ensure compliance with enterprise architecture standards and technology roadmaps.
- Define semantic layers, business metrics, KPIs, and analytical data models.
- Enable trusted datasets for reporting, business intelligence, machine learning, and AI applications.
- Ensure consistency between business definitions and analytical implementations.
- Create and maintain architecture artifacts, data dictionaries, lineage diagrams, models, and standards.
- Support architecture governance reviews and design approvals
Experience / Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Data Engineering, Data Science, Business Information Systems, or related field.
- 8+ years of experience in data architecture, data modeling, database design, or enterprise information management.
- 5+ years designing enterprise-scale data platforms and cloud-native architectures.
- Experience working in regulated industries such as Financial Services, Banking, Healthcare, or Insurance.
- Experience supporting large-scale data transformation or modernization initiatives.
- Strong expertise in conceptual, Logical, and Physical Data Modeling, ER Modeling and Dimensional Modeling, Data Governance and Data Quality Frameworks, Data Integration and API Design, Data Warehousing and Lakehouse Architectures, Cloud Platforms (Azure, AWS), SQL and Database Technologies
- Technology stack – Snowflake, Databricks, Azure Data Services, AWS Data Platforms, Collibra, Informatica, Power BI, Apache Kafka, AI/ML Enablement Platforms
