We're looking for a Controls & Automation Engineer to join our Divisional Engineering team supporting manufacturing operations across multiple facilities.
In this role, you'll help bridge traditional industrial automation with modern manufacturing technologies. You'll support controls systems, SCADA platforms, industrial data systems, and process improvement initiatives while helping advance the division's analytics and digital manufacturing capabilities.
Working closely with operations, maintenance, engineering, and technical teams, you'll develop solutions that improve process visibility, operational performance, and data-driven decision making. This is an opportunity to make an immediate impact while growing into advanced analytics, machine learning, and AI-enabled manufacturing applications.
Position Responsibilities
- Troubleshoot, optimize, and support PLC, HMI, VFD, and industrial control systems.
- Support SCADA, historian, and industrial data systems used to monitor and improve manufacturing performance.
- Develop dashboards, reports, and visualization tools that improve process visibility and operational decision-making.
- Lead and support automation-related process improvement initiatives.
- Manage automation and controls aspects of capital projects from scope development through commissioning.
- Partner with operations, engineering, maintenance, and IT teams to improve connectivity and utilization of manufacturing data.
- Establish and maintain automation standards and best practices across manufacturing operations.
- Support 24/7 manufacturing operations, including occasional on-call, weekend, and holiday support.
Position Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Mechatronics Engineering, or a related Engineering field.
- 2+ years of experience in industrial automation, controls engineering, or manufacturing systems.
- Experience programming and troubleshooting PLC-based control systems.
- Experience with Allen-Bradley Studio 5000 and/or Siemens TIA Portal.
- Experience with SCADA systems, industrial historians, and manufacturing data platforms.
- Working knowledge of SQL and manufacturing data analysis.
- Understanding of industrial networking and communication protocols.
- Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with Ignition SCADA (Perspective, Vision, or related modules).
- Experience integrating PLCs, SCADA systems, historians, databases, and enterprise applications.
- Familiarity with MQTT, OPC-UA, Ethernet/IP, Profinet, or Modbus TCP.
- Exposure to Operational Technology (OT) environments.
- Experience developing dashboards, reporting tools, or analytics applications.
- Exposure to machine learning, artificial intelligence, or predictive analytics in manufacturing environments.
- AutoCAD experience.

What We're Looking For
We're seeking a controls-focused engineer who understands manufacturing automation and has experience working with SCADA systems, historians, SQL databases, and manufacturing data. While deep expertise in machine learning or AI is not required, we're looking for someone with the aptitude and curiosity to build tools that improve analytics efficiency, process visibility, and problem-solving capabilities.
The ideal candidate has a strong controls foundation, experience leveraging manufacturing data to solve operational challenges, and an interest in helping expand the use of advanced analytics, machine learning, and AI across manufacturing operations. Experience with Ignition is highly preferred, but candidates with experience in other SCADA platforms and a demonstrated ability to learn new technologies are encouraged to apply.
